Just a note here to pass on my (and our) best wishes to our friends in Christchurch, New Zealand that got hit hard by an Earthquake today, as well as any f13 Kiwis.

Hoping you and all of your families and friends are well and safe.

Christchurch had seen another earthquake last year that had weakened buildings - this earthquake wasn't as powerful, but it was closer to Christchurch and to the surface.

Ugh.  Was that grey toppled building an apartment?  Most of the rest looked like churches, so hopefully not many injuries there.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

When I was checking the news sites before going to bed they said 65 confirmed dead (this was about 8 hours ago so I am sure it is higher now).

Well, this morning on the news they were still saying 65 confirmed dead, unknown number missing and at least 20 trapped.  That was at 6am US CT, so it's not changed too much.  The pics they were showing were just crazy though, especially the steeple falling on one of the churches.

Selling roofs after Katrina and seeing the utter destruction in Mississippi and Louisiana taught me a very important thing about 'natural disasters' that seems to ring true time after time.

God doesn't like churches.

We were down in Gulfport for a bit and tons of large, impressive churches that were just completely destroyed, the only thing left was enough of the shell of the building to be able to identify it.
30 feet away from this ruined shell of a church?  A mobile home constructed entirely out of popsicle sticks, used chewing gum, and fast food wrappers, with not a single KFC or Taco Bell wrapper out of place.

If there's ever an imminent disaster heading towards you, whatever you do, stay the fuck away from churches.

Way ahead of the curve. Nice!

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

But there will always be one schmuck who manages to live through a natural disaster and praise God for the miracle that saved him.

Uh huh, that only works until God starts tossing tornadoes around though.  Once Ze starts that, it's all over, trailer park.

If your choices in Texas are a church or a trailer park, you just stand in the middle of a field and tell the tornado to come get some!

Office building. The quake hit during lunch hours, so there were more people out of it than might have been during other times.

They announced they found weird objects under a statue in the cathedral.
 ACK!

1. Glass bottle with parchment inside
2. Steel/Iron tube
3. Unknown third item they are keeping secret.
