I too missed this thread the first time. My only thought is, holy crap, Matt Milhaly made a graphical MUD?

"Role playing in an MMO is more like an open orchestra with no conductor, anyone of any skill level can walk in at any time, and everyone brings their own instrument and plays whatever song they want.  Then toss PvP into the mix and things REALLY get ugly!" -Count Nerfedalot

I wanted to give this a chance, but playing Aion then trying EE.... not such a good switch in the graphics department.

I know there's probably a million reasons why they didn't, but I wish this game used the Unity3d engine like Cartoon Network's Fusion Fall, which was able to produce a MUCH nicer aesthetic as a result.

You guys remember that this is a browser game, right?  Suitable for the office, too.

Oh, I don't know.  I reckon most people here skive at work so at least it isn't porn.

Tried it a little bit, got up to level 5. Typical gameplay. I just don't like the character models though. They all have this squat, midget body type with arms longer than their legs.

I gave it a whirl yesterday, and I didn't see any yiffing, but then I didn't go searching for it, either.  Plenty of stupid in the regional chat, anyway.  Game itself was ok.  Got to level 10 w/ a rogue.  Pretty typical stuff.  But, it's free.  You can buy credits for new armor looks, run speed potions of various lengths, xp boosts, and the like.  You can also just buy advancement points for your character.  Not sure what the costs are, as I didn't bother checking.

What the heck does skive mean in that context?  I'm pretty sure you don't mean "To cut thin layers off (leather or rubber, for example)"  awesome, for real

Yes, I know I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skive - To skive is British slang for the practice of avoiding responsibilities because you want to do something more fun or just don't want to do what you should be doing.

Not Really a Developer at the moment, but having his name Red makes Serek Dmart angry - wherever he is - and he doesn't know why he's angry. Which is great.

Iron Realms, who do some pretty neat textual MUDs, have announced Earth Eternal.  Rather unusual as an announcement of an MMO, in that they reckon it'll be released this summer.  It seems to be diku-ish, just from the comparisions in their FAQ, and seems to be partly a version of earth, partly something very different.  It'll be free-to-play (with payment for character enhancements) and Matt Mihaly (regular at Terra Nova) says that they're already fully funded past release.  On the downside some of the character art looks like some sort of freaking furtopia.  I fear what people will want to do with a race called foxicus, given the wrong emotes...

Edit: Browser based play available, which is probably going to be an increasing trend

Knowing the game development is done and reading that first post to this thread are kind of lol.

2 months looking for revenue? Isn't that a bit short sighted?

Investment and revenue are not the same thing. He did not spend 2 months looking for revenue.

I put this in the running for best quote from a dev ever:

Our ISP pulled the plug for non-payment, which was expected. I wasn't able to give you any warning, unfortunately, because I was at Burning Man and completely out of reach for the week that it went down.
