So, six episodes about a TV series that was never shown set in a hospital where weird things happen starring and written by an author who's written more books than he's read.

Anyone?

Very, very funny.  Only seen two or three of the episodes though so it might be that 50% of it is funny and the rest were shit but I'm willing to hedge my bets and say that the rest is just as amusing.

Heh, this and Roman's Empire were two real gems that never seemed to get picked up. I would advise anyone here to watch it.

Some of the episodes are uneven, but if you think you'd like watching the A-Team redone as bad British hospital horror and filled with casual misogyny, this show is for you. Garth is unashamedly a Gary Stu, but in a funny way. It's got some of the people from "The IT Crowd" if that helps sell it further.

Is this a parody of The Kingdom or something?

Also, god they're ugly.

Coke floats...obviously a necessary refreshment when opening the gates of hell in the hospital canteen.

Possibly Lars Von Trier's original version but probably not the Stephen King version on account of it had finished it's run at the same time the other had started (The kingdom's first episode  03 Mar 2004, Darkplace's last episode 04 Mar 2004).  It's really more of a spoof of 1980's low budget television (especially UK TV - terrible sets, terrible special effects, fimed more like a stage play than a TV show).

And yes, they're ugly. That's sort of the point. Garth Marenghi is a horror writer or has written over 400 books and developed the highly successful TV series called Darkplace in which he himself stars as Dr Rick Dagless M.D.  who is the suave and sophisticated, dynamic action hero who just happens to be the best doctor and surgeon who ever lived.
