For those of you who don't know http://www.ilovebees.com is a Halo 2 related site. Originallyit was a site about, well, honey and other bee-related stuff I guess, but across a period of time it went all goofy, allegedly because an AI from Halo 2 hacked the ilovebees.com server.

Anyway, the end result is a number of locations where you can play Halo 2 and get free stuff.

So... something new and innovative in computer game marketing? Or unholy waste of resources that should have been better spent on keeping Halo 2 under lock and key? Discuss.

I think it is cool if not terribly effective. It shows some imagination. It will not sell Halo 2 to me, but I really enjoy the spectacle.

Yeah, but did you actually watch the site? Or simply read about other people watching the site?

It seemed nice idea, but imo added absolutely nothing. A poorly updated site that makes no sense and looks terrible? It's not like the web needed another blogsite.

I'm sure Bungie will crying into their cash at my harsh criticism too.

People watching the site were already emotionally committed to the purchase. People reading about others watching the site are the whole point of the excercise.

But more importantly, Invader Zim really does kick ass.

I'd urge you guys to go read the "radio drama" that's on the website. There's like 3-4 hours of absolutely awesome (not essential backstory to the game, but VERY well written) stuff. I'm about 3/4 through it, and hope that I'll be done with it when Halo 2 arrives from UPS tommorrow.

If you have a couple hours free, it's like 120 megs of mp3's for all the sound. I've NEVER liked sound-only productions, but damn, this one's good...

This is a humorous signature.

I agree.  I've only had time to listen up to Week 2's files so far.  Good writing, voice-acting, post-production(?).

"More pigs GiR, I demand piggies!"

I didn't bother with the whole Ilovebees craze myself but it seemed like Halo fans had a good time with it, so hopefully it's a thing that's here to stay.

To be fair, it's effective since we're still talking about it and Halo 2 after the game has released. It made a big mark on the industry.

I third the comments on it's excellentness.  I'm about 3/4 the way thru.  Really good stuff.

Even put up a torrent of the .wav's on lokitorrent  here, that way it's only one click that takes a long time instead of 50something that take small time.

Burning it on cd and listening in the car is a good thing.

Why don't you try our other games?
