Don't ask me how I hadn't heard about this. But I just finished Ender's Game and wiki'd up the stuff for the rest of the series since everyone else tells me to avoid it like the plague. Then I was like, hay, I should look up other stuff associated with Childhood's End (which is my favorite Sci-Fi novel - and I rarely (VERY RARELY) like Sci-Fi novels. And I came across this tidbit:
*Infinite Line's plot is based around Childhood's End.
Figuring it was a book, I clicked it. NOPE, WRONG.
The result is much more fucking awesome:
You can click this, but the important bits are below.
Infinite Space is an upcoming science-fiction role-playing game developed by PlatinumGames for the Nintendo DS. It is planned for release in Japan and North America sometime in 2009. For a short period after it was announced, the game was referred to by the working title Infinite Line.[1]
So, it's now Infinite Space. I should submit a fix for the Childhood's End entry (har). Anyway:
Infinite Space will be based on the novella Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke. The plot is divided into two main storylines. One follows the life of a young crewman named Yuri who works to become a spaceship captain, and the other focuses on "very high-level, philosophical science fiction stuff." Through the course of the story, the player will discover humanity's role in the universe.[2][1]
Well, why is this interesting?
Platinum Games is formerly known as Seed. Seed is basically Clover. It is the home of:
*Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami
*Devil May Cry/Okami creator Hideki Kamiya
*Okami producer Atsushi Inaba
Along with countless other talented fuckers.
Basically, this DS game was made for me. I just wanted to share that with you all. Word.
Edit:
As always, Sega's Marketing is shit. I fear the worst for the localization.
