I don't read game reviews to find out the reviewer's inane opinion;

If you care more about what the actual mechanics of the game are than the reviewer's opinion, you might be better off reading instruction manuals or strategy guides rather than reviews.

I happen to agree with this in theory, but those things can be full of spoilers or found inside the game box.  Objective reviews are something I want badly, but I don't think they actually exist in entertainment.  Hell, I don't think subjectiveness is completely and 100% missing from, say, car or computer reviews either.  As soon as the guy writes "The heatsink looks slick" you have some opinion.

He doesn't do reviews.  He does comedy.  Commedians poke fun at anything, including things you *like*.  That's ok, because like court jesters, they get immunity for that.  So long as you're clever-funny, you get to poke fun at whatever.  And yeah, when he rips on JRPGs and itemizes all the shit about them that he doesn't like - well, the're JRPGs!  That's what they do.  It's like shitting all over a shooter because you have guns and shoot people.  That's the genre.  But he knows that, he's just taking swipes, and it's a good laugh.

There's no such thing as an objective review. However if the reviewer has a consistent taste then you can still take something from the review even if you're own taste is dissimilar or opposed. If you love heavy RPG's then yahtzee's review of the witcher is a ringing endorsement because you know he doesn't.
