WTF is Chik-Fil-A anyway? Never heard of 'em. I am guessing it is an Eastern Seaboard/Deep South thing? Can anyone draw any parallels to something us Left Coasters might be familiar with?

Hmm...

They are famous for this Ad Campaign...

I do believe they are more of a south-southeastern chain.

I hadn't given it much thought, but CFA is not open on Sundays.  And yeah they're probably mainly Southeastern, there are tons here in North Carolina.

Here's a link to their company profile

Currently they operate 950 restaurants in 34 states, with the most density in the SW, South, and some in the NE.

This should be its new national tag line.  Personally, I would need a gun to my head to go back into the fast food industry.  Pure hell.

But, I admire the switch. It takes guts. I just did the same thing (sort of). I just jetisoned my 8 year legal career, quit my firm and sold back my shares. Going back to school to get a Ph.D. Why? Who knows. Was sick of the other shit so why not.

Technically this will be my second doctorate with my J.D.  I look forward to being wildly overeducated and underemployed in the near future.

Hold open the pickle station for me Arc.

Girl I work with was a young lawyer with a budding career when the stress caused a pulminary event and she ended up having open heart.  Now where I work is not stress free, but I want her on my side of the table whenever an arguement over how something should work or doesn't is tabled.

Good for you Arc...life is way, way too short to spend the whole of it doing something you dislike.  When you can meet your responsibility to family and still find something you love to do, you win.

P.S.  I'm glad R.A. Salvatore inspired you, but if you ever create a character as soul-crushingly hackneyed as Drizzt I'm pretty sure you could legally be beaten about the head with a sack of doorknobs in several states.

I think the original Drizzt was just a good character.  Subsequent generations of fanbois did the hackneying.

Witty banter not included.

Wow Arc. Big change, wish you all the best & lots of luck.  Is the $5k drop in salary before or after your monly profit bonus?  If before, hell, you stand to do better this way I'd think.

Working at something you enjoy for less money is always a much wiser decision than just taking the money because it's there. Being broke has taught me that money is fairly easy to make, even if it's not as much money as you'd like to make. As long as you aren't a complete moron, you can always make money.

As for Chick-Fil-A, the employees must be having fun. Years ago, when I worked in the mall, there was a CFA there. There always seemed to be more employees behind the counter just talking and laughing than actually cooking or serving the food. They had fun; I just wanted my peanut-oil fried sandwich.

Good to see someone making changes in their life that will ultimately make them much happier.

Hmm I am looking forward to some rather humorous anecdotes on your site re: your new career.
