It is.... UT and not quite UT. I've logged about 5 hours.
I have absolutely no opinion thus far.

You..  have no opinion yet? Something is so horribly wrong I may have to kill myself. |

This happens fairly regularly Nix. It's just that no one asks about roughly 90% of the games I play. |

That's because no one has heard of roughly 90% of the games you play.     |

I heard they fucked with dashing while jumping or some other crucial movement element I would remember if I remembered much about the last UT...
Its never been my favorite franchise, I'm also thinking of playing some semi-competative TF2 if they can pull some more decent maps from somewhere.

Saw this yesterday on the shelf. Me and my friend were like 'WTF?'
Flew totally under the radar for two guys who used to worship UT.

I guess all the 360 blockbusters this year kinda obscured it.

My rig is too much weaksauce to run it anyway.

I choked on my beer, WUA.

So no one has an opinion yet?

I'm fighting the urge to get this.

 Help.

I played it for like 15 minutes and then went back to playing CoD 4.

 Interesting.
Modern Warfare had me hooked from mission one.

I played it start to finish on Thanksgiving.

The sniper missions blew my mind.

 ...

No UT3 love makes me squeamish.

I should add that there were only a handful of people playing late night (early morning) launch day so it was kind of hard to enjoy with only 8 people playing on one of the huge maps.

I like it, but I've been a fan of UT for a long while.  Haven't been playing much online because I'm currently behind a DSL connection (500kb) and on a three year old computer.  I'm pretty average, FPS-wise.  Not nearly good enough to overcome the graphic + net lag handicap, which makes playing online un-fun.
 random thoughts:
I really like the necris vehicles, and the multiple capabilities of the vehicles in general (there is a dune buggy that has rocket engines on the back, when you hit the spacebar it lights the rockets off - very cool).  I think putting someone who knows what they are doing in the artillery vehicle is a bit overpowered.  Should be some way to link back to the artilliary via the camera it launches (honestly there may be and I just haven't noticed it).  Leviathan spawns a bit too quickly given it's massive amount of power.  Anti-vehicle rocket should pack a bit more punch given how long it takes to re-load.

Balance between arial, heavy armor, speed vehicles is decent.  Enough urban maps to let the on-foot player shine.  Orbs add a CTF feel to the Warfare game which I have decided whether I like or not yet (Orbs allow for instant capture of an non-controlled node).  Hoverboard is a good addition to the game.

I have to admit that a large part of why I like it because it's not army-men/realistic, which just isn't my cup of tea.

Either game-play is quicker then previous UTs (I think this is the case, since they provide a Slo-Mo modifier), or I'm slowing down.

There's lag in the menu screen.
The demo didn't impress me. I'm going to skip it entirely.

It would be nice to see those who clowned me before come in here and admit this game is a fucking failure.

I just fired up the demo that I downloaded a few weeks ago and hadn't bothered to try.  My verdict: compared to previous UT games it's decent.  Compared to TF2 it's crap on a stick.  I'm gonna save my moneys. |

From what I've heard the demo isn't really a very good indicator of the actual game's quality. |

The demos for UT2k3 and UT2k4 were almost as good as the full games were.  Buying the game was almost an afterthought because the demos were so good.  And when I bought the full games I generally ended up playing the demo maps most of the time.  As such, the UT3 demo's utter failure to entertain me does not fill me with confidence about the full game. |

Yeah I remember the ut2k3 demo, fuck we played the football map like 5,000,000 times in a row...
I don't even think I bought it, I was so burned out after the demo.
