If you have a heavy duty rig to run it it is extremely fucking hot. I was certain this was gonna be a glorified tech demo ala Doom 3, but Crytek has proved me wrong. The gameplay is there along with the remarkable visuals.

I wasn't a big Far Cry guy. This on the other hand, deserves quite alot of the praise it's getting.

I normally see temps of about 70c on my gpu monitor. After playing the Crysis demo for an hour, it was reading something like 85c, even with fan manually set to 100%.

Definitely a burner. Nothing else dents that 70c, I think FEAR may have bumped it to 72c. 8800GTX o/c.

I read somewhere that retail Crysis runs cooler/more efficient than the demo.

No idea though really.

Yea... Friends are telling me this game is not worth the disc it's printed on.

I'm starting to believe it.

Edit: Luckily, Gamestop's box got shipped to the wrong store, so I only got Assassin's Creed today. Probably a good fate.

Ok, so I got it, and I love it. It runs super smooth on my computer with all setting on high. e6600, 8800gtx, 2gb ram, XP Pro. I really really like this game.

Nice!  Can't wait.

Question: Do you have to leave the disc in the drive?

I havent tried taking it out, although I would assume so, because when you start the game up, the cursor turns in to a spinning CD icon as if its reading the disk.

I came, I played, it's done.  Keeps getting better and better, but only clocks in at about 12-14 hours for the SP campaign.

I'll probably play through this again some time, months from now, when I've got some better hardware.  As it is, I played it medium-lowish.

That's almost a deal breaker for me nowadays.

I fucking HATE putting discs into drives to play games.  Its why all my consoles become neglected except for XBLA.

I have the same system as Morf, and it ran great on mine, too (hot, though...referring to the demo).

Geldon, Far Cry wasn't a real long game if you just tackled it front to back, either. The fun of an emergent-focused game is to go back and play around trying different stuff. Definitely a journey-over-destination thing.

I'm broke from Kunark + GH3, but Crysis is on the short list to buy...

It's available as a DDL Hat if you wanna skip the disks altogether.

Just finished it up as well, just over 12 hours and worth every minute and every penny I put into it. Fantastic.

uh ok, this game is really great as infantry shooter, but not my cup of tea when they told (force) me to do something else than sand box jungle warfare.

Yep. I basically quit at that same point when they started throwing some mutants at me. I remember the check point saves, the super long range rocket launcher from guard towers. I'm amazed Crytek still does some things the same way, plot wise that is. Make the players do open jungle warfare from the start till a midpoint where it suddenly become a sci-fi shooter. I'm stuck on the VTOL combat part and the solo run through a big museum with ghosts(analogy) is one part i did not enjoy since it only gives me the option to 'Kill shit till the door opens for you'.

Just finished the game. Holy abrupt ending. I liked the game a lot, but it was like your going, and then boom. Game Over.

I noticed that too.  As Sky pointed out, Far Cry wasn't a real long game either, but the way Crysis ends does seem rather abrupt.  Perhaps it's because the open-ended nature of the game seems to end about half-way through and then you're just doing a stretch of linear activities until the last.

Well, clearly they've set up a good premise for an expansion/sequel.  I imagine EA is fairly wetting themselves with anticipation over selling it.
