I have 6 gmail accounts I can give out at the moment. If you want one, just post below why you need it. This is my way of being "fair."

I'll judge whether or not you get one. I also might just play favorites. It's also possible I delete this thread because no one gives a shit.

gmail. The Google email - 1gb inbox. Large attachments possible. It's not as good as what I have my f13 mailbox set up for, otherwise i'd use it. The archival features are fantabulous. I use it for newsgroups, easy to sort, easy to label, easy to search. The contact list is great as well.

Edit: You can only get them by invitation - and invitations are limited. I've had the address for 4 months, gotten 7 invites total. I've just been hording them for a month or 2 now.

i.e. - My address is schild@gmail.com

I'd love an invite.  I wonder how many other lurkers this might cause to register and post.  Anyway, hope the inviting goes well and whatnot.

I would like a gmail account please. I need it to be able to send and recieve email, and receive targeted advertisements relevant to those I am already receiveing. If I receive an advertisement offering to enlarge my penis, I would like to see what other penis enlargement services are available to me.

The best part of SWG was the easy account cancellation process.

Hotmail.com recently upgraded my account from 2 mb to 250 meg, and now allows attachments up to 10 megs.

They also have awesome spam filtering, as of the April update to their filter system.  The GMail spam filter is an unknown, so I'm not sure I have a reason to switch.

Can you all send me PMs with your real first and last name in them?

Did I mention with your gmail account, you get a complimentary subscription to the KKK newsletter? Heh, no, just playin,' they just require a first and last name.

The real name isn't exactly necessary for an invitation, unless you want a clean address book. The invitee can change the info upon acceptance of the invitation.

This guy is giving out free invites because he was obviously picked last in dodgeball. He also seems to have issues with "blog rejection".

I'd like one, simply so I can access outside email while I am at work 12 hours a night.  They've blocked all other webmail providers :(

Buncha damn nazis, perhaps add my Info-Security group to that KKK newsletter?

Rent some space on a PHP enabled web server somewhere for 9 bucks a month and install your own webmail client on it and then forward your other accounts to that account.

That's funny. If they are so limited then why do half the people in this thread have between 3 and 7 to give out and every where I go on the web some website is trying to give away between 10 and 100.

Ding, ding, ding. Nice viral marketting, Google.

Maybe "limited" in Google's world means googol (aka 10^100).

I'll have to agree... even though I don't know Multiply (I use Linkedin).
But when the first picture you see after accepting an invite is that 70's drugaddict pic of Bruce Sterling Woodcock, you just know there must be some better networking tool out there...

Since there may be someone in existence that doesn't have an account yet, I've also got 6 invites and I can't find anyone to take them. PM me with your email address if you want one.

They did this at my old office, too.  There was a good reason for it. With 400 employees able to access yahoo or hotmail, wl always had at least 5 fuckwits download the latest viruses, trojans and worms that always manage to sneak past the webmail provider's filters.  They finaly said "fuckit, no outside e-mail" and blocked it.

They did the same for streaming audio when they discovered one guy in my department was using more bandwith than the entire rest of the department combined by almost 1/3.

It's not just the large filestorage and attachment size.  A lot of geeks were all hot & bothered about getting gmail accounts about 5 or so months back because they could get the address of their choice instead of "g4nd41f_001"

Did you get one? Because it's like the plague. On the other hand, it's quite fun to farm them by creating many mail accounts.

Just wait until someone programs a P2P app that uses Gmail accounts to store the files. There is already a GmailFS you can mount as a hard drive under Linux.
