That's pretty damn cool.   I wonder if it suffers from the same set-backs as cloning, though.

Ed: Fuck I should clarify that before it goes all political.  The set-backs of cloning being: the thing you clone is at the same genetic age as the original.  You don't get to clone a sheep and voila it's got a normal sheep lifespan.  It's lifespan is (normal sheep) - (age of original).

On the cloning thing, the funniest thing I've seen in a while is the daily show cloned meat graphic, where you "Discard the 90% of horrible mutants" and they roll down a conveyor belt into a fiery pit.

So by the time my heart's ready to give up on me, they'll be able to grow me a new one out of my bone marrow?  That's pretty splendid.

This shouldn't be a political issue, even in our crazy polarized times, because if I recall correctly the stem cells used were adult stem cells. If so, there's no ickiness to it, since you'd likely be using stem cells from the patient. The article didn't say if these were adult stem cells, but I thought I heard that on the news.
