Title: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Ironwood on April 02, 2007, 01:16:17 AM Awesome. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6516885.stm)
Please to be not putting this in politics due to douchebaggary. Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Merusk on April 02, 2007, 04:08:56 AM That's pretty damn cool. I wonder if it suffers from the same set-backs as cloning, though.
Ed: Fuck I should clarify that before it goes all political. The set-backs of cloning being: the thing you clone is at the same genetic age as the original. You don't get to clone a sheep and voila it's got a normal sheep lifespan. It's lifespan is (normal sheep) - (age of original). Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: bhodi on April 02, 2007, 07:52:04 AM Very cool.
On the cloning thing, the funniest thing I've seen in a while is the daily show cloned meat graphic, where you "Discard the 90% of horrible mutants" and they roll down a conveyor belt into a fiery pit. Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Samwise on April 02, 2007, 08:05:19 AM So by the time my heart's ready to give up on me, they'll be able to grow me a new one out of my bone marrow? That's pretty splendid.
Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Miasma on April 02, 2007, 08:12:35 AM I'm going to go get me up a double Whopper with cheese for lunch.

Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Damn Dirty Ape on April 02, 2007, 09:00:16 AM I've officially been blinded by Science.
Science! Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: HaemishM on April 02, 2007, 09:01:21 AM This shouldn't be a political issue, even in our crazy polarized times, because if I recall correctly the stem cells used were adult stem cells. If so, there's no ickiness to it, since you'd likely be using stem cells from the patient. The article didn't say if these were adult stem cells, but I thought I heard that on the news.
Either way, it kicks ass. Vat-grown organs 4tw. Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Damn Dirty Ape on April 02, 2007, 09:03:06 AM In other news, stocks in Baron Karza's Body Banks declined heavily.
Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: HaemishM on April 02, 2007, 09:03:29 AM Micronauts references kick ass.
Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Ironwood on April 02, 2007, 09:05:01 AM I'd remind you that we made a Politics Thread out of monkeys.
As to the hearts, they need to hurry up if they're gonna save Scottish folk. I'm almost 33. I have 2 years left. :( Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: WayAbvPar on April 02, 2007, 09:07:22 AM But you will die having lived life to its deepfried booze-guzzling fullest. Stop deep-frying everything. Really, a slice of bread is perfectly edible right out of the bag. Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Ironwood on April 02, 2007, 01:02:18 PM This is a persistant and pervasive stereotype.
I blame the soft water myself. Title: Re: Making the Tin Man Happy Post by: Signe on April 02, 2007, 01:25:28 PM The soft water is why you have silly hair, too.
