1.) Yes she does know, and no, she does not have a problem with it. You saw the picture, does she have anything to be ashamed of? 2.) She is 19. 3.) Yes I did have a bunkbed, but we bought a regular bed three months ago when she moved in with me at my parents' house (we will be moving out as soon as she gets out of school). 4.) [ Thread now semi-NSFW, open with caution ] Post by: Sky on October 19, 2006, 06:37:18 AM Our culture is funny in thinking living with your parents is somehow an awful thing. It makes a lot more sense than renting in a lot of cases. I've lived with my parents a few times since college, my ladyfriend lives with her elderly mother right now. It might drive you both nuts at times, but it's financially healthy and can keep your relationship strong. Sure the fuck beats living with three musicians and a couple roadies, trust me. I thought you were into eastern culture, Schild.
XBG's girl is way to young to be engaged, but....score. Nice booty. In no way let that girl mar her body with some shitball implants. Implants are for bimbos, goldiggers, and strippers. Small breasts are beautiful (most are, implants are the worst imo, and I've seen more than my share). Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. The idea that it's "bad" is probably a byproduct of people thinking in terms of the "nuclear family" or something -- ideals which are fairly recent and complete bullshit. They don't suit everyone. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now semi-NSFW, open with caution ] Post by: Yegolev on October 19, 2006, 01:00:03 PM Living with your parents is not bad, but many times this happens due to some loserness befalling the one living there. It's not a big deal when you are 20 in any case. I tried living in a house down the road from my parents at 23, one that they owned and rent-free, and I quickly had to move along. Death spiral. However, I didn't have an ass like that handy. Or an Xbox.
Edit: Don't get the implants. Noobler. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now semi-NSFW, open with caution ] Post by: XboxGod on October 19, 2006, 03:46:02 PM Alright, we both are pretty young to be engaged, but we have been together almost two and a half years. I am 20, and unfortunately my mom can't cook, either can my fiance for that matter, I do most of the food preparation. I moved out the day I turned 18, lived on my own for almost a year, got into some trouble, and realized I wasn't really prepared to make it on my own. I am not proud of the fact that we live with my parents, but if I hadn't moved back home, I honestly don't know where I would be right now. We are saving up to move out next summer though.
Personally, I couldn't care less whether she has big boobs or small ones, I am definitely an ass man. It's just something she's really self-conscience about, so there's really no talking her out of it. She certainly does not mind my Xbox addiction, she actually bought me my 360 for my birthday. She also does not mind my poker addiction. She's awesome. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now semi-NSFW, open with caution ] Post by: Merusk on October 19, 2006, 03:52:39 PM The idea that living with your parents is bad stems from the underlying thought that you're just leeching. You're not keeping your own finances, paying rent, holding down a job or learning how to deal in the real world. All good arguments for loserdom, but lacking any factual basis from just the phrase "living with my parents." Still, it's true often enough that it's the stereotype.
Tell her to put on some weight. You'll get more ass and she'll get more boob. Plus it costs less than implants. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now semi-NSFW, open with caution ] Post by: WayAbvPar on October 19, 2006, 03:54:01 PM Whatever you do, DO NOT GET MARRIED BEFORE YOU ARE BOTH 25. All paranoia disappears when I leave the US though... I'm looking forward to that! You seem a lovely lad and have a lovely girlfriend (what I've seen of her, anyway) and if you don't mind these pervs staring at her butt, and she doesn't care, then there is no harm. You might attract a bit of animosity among those less fortunate here... that's not the sort of butt you see everyday! :-P
Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now semi-NSFW, open with caution ] Post by: Llava on October 19, 2006, 04:08:18 PM 2 and a half years isn't long enough.
I was with my last girlfriend over five years before we broke up. We got together at 18. You are too young. I know more about this stuff than you do and I'm too young. Stay together, you don't have to go fuck other people, but don't get married. Give it at LEAST 3 more years. (And tell her to knock that shit off with the implants, it betrays a low self esteem and psychological issues that could impact your relationship in the future- if you're happy with what she has, there's no reason for her to get implants unless she wants attention from other guys, which she shouldn't. She shouldn't be allowing you to put pictures of her butt on the internet, either, and you shouldn't want to put them up. All of this betrays a lack of maturity from both of you, and further shows that you're not ready to be married.) Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [/quote] It has nothing to do with "Childhood" excuses. I'm just saying that it's completely unnecessary to carry the world on your shoulders right away. No one should really have to get two jobs, let alone three, just to survive. At that point, "stress" outweighs the whole "independence" ideal. People would be better off living within a more communal/tribal/familial existence, pooling their resources (which is exactly what many people do all over the world....contrary to what you think "life" is). Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now semi-NSFW, open with caution ] Post by: Strazos on October 19, 2006, 05:46:57 PM Bleh, edits while I was typing. Suffice to say, I just mean that moving out so you can feel mature...or something, is a stupid fucking idea. If you're in your 20s, and temporarily living with your parents, I don't see the problem. Still living with them at 40...eh...well, I don't care, but it's certainly not normal. Don't shortchange your life just to move out.
And Stray, I'm not really sure what you're trying to argue with loan numbers. Yes, school costs money (usually). It's not like you owe it all at once. And besides, isn't the point of higher education to enable people to get good jobs, and not have to really sweat those loans? Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. I probably make just as much cash as most of people here. Some of which are 5 to 10 years older than me. I made even more in my early twenties (sad, but true). I'm not whining about anything. I just think the whole "independence" ideal can be overrated and counterproductive at times. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. Most people aren't making more than 25-30k out of college. Some not even that. Some loans accumulate into huge numbers if not paid off quickly enough as well. It's just another thing to worry about, stacked on top of everything else, is all I'm saying. Besides that, you never know what people are going through. They could be going through divorce, they might have a kid or two by then, they might have a lot of medical expenses for some reason, their car might have been totaled, they have to take care of ill or elderly family members, etc.. People live with their "parents" (ooh...such a bad, bad word) for any number reasons. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. Still absymal though. An introductory teacher's salary in Texas (say, for a recent graduate with an English degree) is somewhere around $27k (and that's with a recent pay raise). If they're lucky, and not completely insane in 10-15 years, they might make $40k. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. 1) People will think nothing of dropping 30k on a car but they hesitate to spend it on an education. W T F? You are the best thing you can invest in. 2) An education may not guarantee a good job, but it does protect against an even lower glass ceiling. 3) Do what you're passionate about. That will take you further than any degree will. In some cases (like mine) a degree is required to get there. I wouldn't want to be 20 again for all the money in the world. Good luck! On the other hand, we have relatives who will never be able to stay married--fortunately, I believe some of them are far too pathetic to ever get married in the first place, saving their prospective partners a world of heartache.

In the South, a kid making 25-30k coming out of college is doing good unless you are in the asstastic metro areas like Atlanta, who wants to be the New York of the South (maybe Chicago of the South). Yes. I graduated making $32k which was plenty to buy a house in a good neighborhood, a new car, and have some money afterwards. I make more now, am married (so second income from that), but at the time it was just fine for getting started. Turned down was a job in Hilton Head making ~40k (bad opportunity, and I'd have to live off island anyway) or moving to Charlotte for $50k. I know several people who did the latter, and I've seen where they live. I'm happy with where I went with things. I really, REALLY don't want to move to Atlanta and would only have considered it out of desperate need for a job of any sort. As for the moving out at 18 bit, I did so when I was 19. I was lucky in having parents who paid for my college itself, so I only had to cover living expenses. I bought a car with my own money after highschool ($4k) and moved in with two roommates. Three bedroom just off campus ran us $800/mo, and was actually a pretty nice place. If we were desperate we could've made the walk to campus (I did once), but realistically it was too far for that. That was after having tried a place right off campus and much smaller, for the same price. That plus utilities split three was was easy to cover with a part time job, as I only needed around $400/mo to break even. Summer also made for a good opportunity to save. The biggest mistake people that age make is fooling around with credit cards. Treat them like the plague. They do not offer you a deal. Credit card companies only want to own the next twenty years of your life. They can be useful for establishing credit or for making every day purchases (food/gas) convenient, but don't be a twit and eat out every night or buy that new $1000 TV. Unless daddy is paying off your card (in which case he's probably paying your rent too), you can't afford it. Both my college roommates did that. I didn't, and that also has a fair bit to do with why I bought a house post graduation and they didn't. Looking back, it wasn't the smartest financial move to leave the house that early, but I think it was good for maturity. There's probably a good $10-15k I spent for the experience, but I don't regret it. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now NSFW, open with caution - WE LOVE CHEDDAR ] Post by: Yegolev on October 20, 2006, 10:48:21 AM Atlanta has the unusual property of being a great place to live but a lousy place to visit. The optimal solution, however, is to work in the city and live in the sticks (like Roac's Hilton Head anecdote), because there's a lot of money here and no natural barriers to the sprawl. It just doesn't get spent on basic infrastructure.
I came here from Auburn, Alabama and was King of the World, making $24,500 annual with a $360/mo apartment that was across the street from a grocery store and half a block from an Irish bar that was owned and staffed by actual Irish. Cross-commuted to a job in the suburbs. Good times. That was in 1996, when the city's population was only two million. Things are a little different now, but the cost of living is generally low while at the same time there are good jobs to be found. There are also good schools that you have never heard of which don't cost a lot. Not such a hot place to visit, though, mostly because it's a geographical oddity: everything is at least thirty minutes from everything else regardless of location. I feel sorry for people who come here from a real city and expect to sustain themselves without a car. Or find their way around. Or find good international food. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. "Well, I have $15 in the bank, but putting $2000 on a credit card is a perfectly reasonable strategy! WOOT NEW TV!" Longest I've ever carried a balance on my card was 3 months, and that was when I was really in what I considered financial trouble. Then I got off my ass and solved the problem and I'm debt free again (minus mortgage, of course). Just cause the notice says "$8000 credit limit" doesn't mean "Woot! My pockets are now $8000 deeper!" Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. I'm not understanding. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now NSFW, open with caution - WE LOVE CHEDDAR ] Post by: Signe on October 25, 2006, 10:30:17 AM I'm NOT a Brit. I've just usually live there. It's convenient. My father is Norwegian, my mother came from somewhere in the upper dregs of Italy, my husband is a Scottsman (hehe) and I'm as American as cherry pie. I have some American family. I have no American friends. Now you know my entire life story.
Some people are just not fussed about sex. I'm one of them. If there's something more fun to do, I'd rather be doing that. I never said I hated it or anything. Now just shut up. [ Thread now NSFW, open with caution - WE LOVE CHEDDAR ] Post by: HaemishM on November 08, 2006, 09:01:44 AM Good God, instead of watching that drek (although the tits were certainly nice) just go rent Desperado. She shows the jublees in all their glory in that movie. Or even Frida, if you can stand to watch a good movie with Hayek sporting a unibrow. Actually, just watch Frida anyway, it's a good movie.
But don't watch Ugly Betty. My wife makes me sit through parts of it and IT IS PAINFUL. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now NSFW, open with caution - WE LOVE CHEDDAR ] Post by: bhodi on November 08, 2006, 11:05:28 AM I watch it when I get dinner with my mom on Thursdays, it's fairly entertaining. Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now NSFW, open with caution - WE LOVE CHEDDAR ] Post by: HaemishM on November 08, 2006, 11:21:59 AM The funny part is that Betty's actually good looking outside the Betty makeup (America Ferrara). Instead of actually casting an uggo in the role, they case someone pretty and uglied her up.
Title: Re: Yearly Me Thread. [ Thread now NSFW, open with caution - WE LOVE CHEDDAR ] Post by: bhodi on November 08, 2006, 12:13:56 PM That's because when things get really bad in the show, they can always do a 'pretty her up' episode for better ratings.

Seen 'em both, but this is good for two reasons: 1) Desperado had poor lighting and very fast shots, Frida had plaster. 2) Salma Hayek has the kind of beauty that you don't get tired of seeing in new ways.
