Our culture is funny in thinking living with your parents is somehow an awful thing. It makes a lot more sense than renting in a lot of cases. I've lived with my parents a few times since college, my ladyfriend lives with her elderly mother right now. Living with your parents is not bad, but many times this happens due to some loserness befalling the one living there.  It's not a big deal when you are 20 in any case.  I tried living in a house down the road from my parents at 23, one that they owned and rent-free, and I quickly had to move along.  Death spiral.  However, I didn't have an ass like that handy.  Or an Xbox.

Alright, we both are pretty young to be engaged, but we have been together almost two and a half years. I am 20, and unfortunately my mom can't cook, either can my fiance for that matter, I do most of the food preparation. I moved out the day I turned 18, lived on my own for almost a year, got into some trouble, and realized I wasn't really prepared to make it on my own. I am not proud of the fact that we live with my parents, but if I hadn't moved back home, I honestly don't know where I would be right now. We are saving up to move out next summer though.

Personally, I couldn't care less whether she has big boobs or small ones, I am definitely an ass man. It's just something she's really self-conscience about, so there's really no talking her out of it.

I didn't move out until I was 21, as a result I had a decent amount of money saved up and pretty good credit, could get a good loan at a good rate and I'm living in a condo I can afford myself at a greater level of comfort than many of my friends who work much harder than me and are barely scraping by in apartments living with significant others or roommates, building no equity, where they are essentially stuck until... well, I don't know what's going to come along and solve their problems, but it won't be for a while.

It has nothing to do with "Childhood" excuses. I'm just saying that it's completely unnecessary to carry the world on your shoulders right away. No one should really have to get two jobs, let alone three, just to survive. At that point, "stress" outweighs the whole "independence" ideal. People would be better off living within a more communal/tribal/familial existence, pooling their resources (which is exactly what many people do all over the world....contrary to what you think "life" is).

They could be going through divorce, they might have a kid or two by then, they might have a lot of medical expenses for some reason, their car might have been totaled, they have to take care of ill or elderly family members, etc.. I have to agree with those saying she should not get implants, not that I believe it will sway your fiancée.  I can understand the desire, implants just aren't worth the risks to me, and it is a lot healthier to accept oneself for whom they are if possible.

That said, being accepting can be difficult, and I do not think cosmetic surgery is bad if a significant amount of thought is put into it.  Casting stones and all.

3) Do what you're passionate about.  That will take you further than any degree will.  In some cases (like mine) a degree is required to get there.

About living with your parents. Living and leeching are very different. A lot of people move back in with their parents even after college now. That in itself is not a big deal. I wouldn't say someone I really don't know is/is not too young for marriage based simply on hearing their age.  I got married early, and it's been over 17 years now.  My wife's brother also got married early, and it's still solid.  On the other hand, we have relatives who will never be able to stay married--fortunately, I believe some of them are far too pathetic to ever get married in the first place, saving their prospective partners a world of heartache.

Pick a different area of the country, bitch. In the South, a kid making 25-30k coming out of college is doing good unless you are in the asstastic metro areas like Atlanta, who wants to be the New York of the South (maybe Chicago of the South). That's of course providing you are at least marginally smart with money and don't work yourself into crushing credit card debt before you turn 25.

Yes.  I graduated making $32k which was plenty to buy a house in a good neighborhood, a new car, and have some money afterwards.  I make more now, am married (so second income from that), but at the time it was just fine for getting started.  Turned down was a job in Hilton Head making ~40k (bad opportunity, and I'd have to live off island anyway) or moving to Charlotte for $50k.  I know several people who did the latter, and I've seen where they live.  I'm happy with where I went with things.  I really, REALLY don't want to move to Atlanta and would only have considered it out of desperate need for a job of any sort.

As for the moving out at 18 bit, I did so when I was 19.  I was lucky in having parents who paid for my college itself, so I only had to cover living expenses.  I bought a car with my own money after highschool ($4k) and moved in with two roommates.  Three bedroom just off campus ran us $800/mo, and was actually a pretty nice place.  If we were desperate we could've made the walk to campus (I did once), but realistically it was too far for that.  That was after having tried a place right off campus and much smaller, for the same price.  That plus utilities split three was was easy to cover with a part time job, as I only needed around $400/mo to break even.  Summer also made for a good opportunity to save.

The biggest mistake people that age make is fooling around with credit cards.  Treat them like the plague.  They do not offer you a deal.  Credit card companies only want to own the next twenty years of your life.  They can be useful for establishing credit or for making every day purchases (food/gas) convenient, but don't be a twit and eat out every night or buy that new $1000 TV.  Unless daddy is paying off your card (in which case he's probably paying your rent too), you can't afford it.  Both my college roommates did that.  I didn't, and that also has a fair bit to do with why I bought a house post graduation and they didn't.

Looking back, it wasn't the smartest financial move to leave the house that early, but I think it was good for maturity.  There's probably a good $10-15k I spent for the experience, but I don't regret it.  

Atlanta has the unusual property of being a great place to live but a lousy place to visit.  The optimal solution, however, is to work in the city and live in the sticks (like Roac's Hilton Head anecdote), because there's a lot of money here and no natural barriers to the sprawl.  It just doesn't get spent on basic infrastructure.

I came here from Auburn, Alabama and was King of the World, making $24,500 annual with a $360/mo apartment that was across the street from a grocery store and half a block from an Irish bar that was owned and staffed by actual Irish.  Cross-commuted to a job in the suburbs.  Good times.

That was in 1996, when the city's population was only two million.  Things are a little different now, but the cost of living is generally low while at the same time there are good jobs to be found.  There are also good schools that you have never heard of which don't cost a lot.  Not such a hot place to visit, though, mostly because it's a geographical oddity: everything is at least thirty minutes from everything else regardless of location.  I feel sorry for people who come here from a real city and expect to sustain themselves without a car.  Or find their way around.  Or find good international food.

That is a lot like Houston.

Good God, instead of watching that drek (although the tits were certainly nice) just go rent Desperado. She shows the jublees in all their glory in that movie. Or even Frida, if you can stand to watch a good movie with Hayek sporting a unibrow. Actually, just watch Frida anyway, it's a good movie.

But don't watch Ugly Betty. My wife makes me sit through parts of it and IT IS PAINFUL.

Definitely watch Frida.  I haven't seen Ugly Betty although I just recently noticed an advert for it.  I wasn't quite sure what to make of it, though. 

I watch it when I get dinner with my mom on Thursdays, it's fairly entertaining. If nothing else, everyone on that show is unreasonably attractive. Except for Betty, of course.

The funny part is that Betty's actually good looking outside the Betty makeup (America Ferrara). Instead of actually casting an uggo in the role, they case someone pretty and uglied her up.

That's because when things get really bad in the show, they can always do a 'pretty her up' episode for better ratings.

Seen 'em both, but this is good for two reasons:
1) Desperado had poor lighting and very fast shots, Frida had plaster.
2) Salma Hayek has the kind of beauty that you don't get tired of seeing in new ways.  Or, at least, I don't.  She's my #1 hot celeb.
