Title: Pirates! for XBox Post by: Viin on August 01, 2005, 03:58:16 PM Has anyone seen Pirates! on the Xbox? I was looking to buy the PC version but then I noticed there was an Xbox version. Is it a game that would play well with a controller or would a keyboard+mouse work better?
Title: Re: Pirates! for XBox Post by: WayAbvPar on August 01, 2005, 04:04:19 PM It is nearly all keyboard commands on the PC, so it should translate just fine to a controller. The graphics won't be quite as pretty though :-o

The Pause key/button (if it exists in the Xbox version) is your friend.Title: Re: Pirates! for XBox Post by: Furiously on August 02, 2005, 08:19:58 AM Xbox version explains so many things about the PC version.
Title: Re: Pirates! for XBox Post by: Yegolev on August 02, 2005, 08:43:49 AM I see pirates every time I close my eyes. They don't dance, though.

Title: Re: Pirates! for XBox Post by: Samwise on August 02, 2005, 03:56:16 PM Because there's an option to woo governors' daughters, and they won't be impressed by some scurvy pirate who doesn't even know how to dance.
Title: Re: Pirates! for XBox Post by: Jain Zar on August 02, 2005, 04:35:30 PM They should be impressed by the giant ship I stole from my archnemesis with its 300 man crew and tons and tons of cannons and how much money I have and my ability to make quick jabs with a rapier any time a bad guy with a sword attempts to do any form of attack maneuver.
I don't care what Will Smith says, im not a dancer. Im an angry ship captain who sinks French and Dutch ships for the Spanish crown and blows away pirates just because they are naughty. Let me win the girl while saving my family via massive amounts of firepower and brooding 16th-17th century angst. At least the ladies in Defender of the Crown appreciated some good sword work. And the Robin Hood sequel was kicky cool with Robin and Marion bantering the whole damned game. I mention DotC since its pretty much the same basic game concept. A bunch of simplistic yet cinematic minigames attached to a relatively freeform frontend. Sailing a boat in Pirates, taking over Britain in DotC. Title: Re: Pirates! for XBox Post by: stray on August 02, 2005, 05:08:23 PM DotC, as I mentioned in the Gold Box thread, is my true intro to great gaming.
By Robin Hood sequel, do you mean the newer DotC game? So it's worth playing then? See, that's when you take over the town, kidnap said governor's daughter and ravish here in true pirate fashion while screaming AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR at the top of your lungs. Or just try to impress her with your enormous cockatoo. |
