Title: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Azazel on May 11, 2010, 10:33:22 AM http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2010/05/frank-frazetta/
One of the true giants, and someone who had has an incredible amount of influence over the whole of the fantasy genre, and by extension, movies, games, comics... RIP. Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Salamok on May 11, 2010, 10:38:02 AM I'd say he had a pretty full life.
Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Sky on May 11, 2010, 11:22:24 AM Frazetta breathed life into Conan, forever after when I read Howard, I see Frank's work in motion.
RIP one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. While people will yap on about quacks like Pollack and Warhol, guys like Frazetta are the real deal. Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: HaemishM on May 11, 2010, 11:32:46 AM

Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Sky on May 12, 2010, 09:23:27 AM My favorite fantasy painting of all time (I also have the lead mini and want to get the axe and helm at some point):
(http://frankfrazettamuseum.com/images/Prints/LargeImage/31_TheDeathDealer.jpg) I also liked when he did his more art nouveau stuff: Another couple of my favorites: Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Righ on May 12, 2010, 10:04:43 AM My favorite fantasy painting of all time Death Dealer is one of my favourites too. It inspired me to buy a Molly Hatchet album when I was younger. Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Salamok on May 12, 2010, 12:07:58 PM Maybe the painting with fire documentary will get some love from the networks this month.
Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: climbjtree on May 25, 2010, 02:31:12 PM I watched Fire and Ice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz-yLWGaIxM) in his honor last night. Pretty sure one of the main characters is inspired by Death Dealer.
Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Cadaverine on May 25, 2010, 04:04:36 PM I watched Fire and Ice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz-yLWGaIxM) in his honor last night. Pretty sure one of the main characters is inspired by Death Dealer. In the early 1980s, Frazetta worked with producer Ralph Bakshi on the feature Fire and Ice, released in 1983. The realism of the animation and design replicated Frazetta's artwork.[9] Bakshi and Frazetta were heavily involved in the production of the live-action sequences used for the film's rotoscoped animation, from casting sessions to the final shoot.[9] Following the release of the film, Frazetta returned to his roots in painting and pen-and-ink illustrations. Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Amarr HM on May 25, 2010, 04:22:17 PM Agreed Death Dealer was one of my favourites too, I always thought it was supposed to be a Wraith rider.
I was addicted to Gods by the Bitmap brothers around the same time this one caught my eye. Sad.
http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100419/NEWS/4190321 I hadn't known about the Frazetta + Bakshi movie. Maybe I'll watch it one of these days. Title: Re: Frank Frazetta passes Post by: Comstar on May 26, 2010, 05:20:42 PM Fire and Ice is pretty much the iconic fantasy animation, if not fantasy movie of a Frazetta painting.
