At what point can Dropbox upload stuff outside of the Dropbox folder?

Anytime it wants. There's no security in a typical Windows setup that would prevent it from doing so (i.e. there's nothing special/secure about the designated Dropbox folder). You are basically trusting those guys not to root around in your stuff.

Well I was about to sign up for whatever random unsecure thing this is; and then you said I have to install. Pass.

Well since I can create an "infinite" number of email accounts I was going to create some more accounts for you but you can't switch accounts once you've installed the program and the uninstall/reinstall procedure is fucked up somehow so it won't let me install it a second time. I'll need to reboot my machine to try it again but it's busy recording crap right now so it'll be awhile before I can try it.

Okay rebooting fixed the reinstall problem but they are doing some sort of check which is preventing my extra accounts from acting as valid referrals so, uh, good luck :awesome_for_real:

Yeah, I've found Dropbox invaluable. I haven't yet upgraded past the free, but it's now indispensable in my life.

I've run out for accounts to make for myself. Thanks to everyone that's making them. It really is pretty much the best thing ever. I'm up to 6.8GB, so uhmmmm, 13 more needed.

I can confirm that giving them access and then revoking it still gives you the space.

I finally broke down and bought the 50gb plan after I realized I could automatically sync my Mac Backup onto the Dropbox via Symlink. That, and all the sensitive data in a Truecrypt file really lets me enjoy the thought of my house burning down and destroying all local backups (apart from the everything burning part :)).

Couldnt think of any better place to put this question, so sorry about Bumping a fairly old thread (as a forum search for Dropbox just turns up a lot of pic links, lol):

I could swear I remember someone mentioning something about a Firefox plugin either in the Awesome pics or Funny pics thread that would let you right-click -> add to dropbox or something similar for quick grabbing of pictures or other hotlinked files, however a cursory google search seems to turn up nothing like that (all the ones that popped up on google were all about complicated things for dropbox related scripts or syncing entire Firefox profiles and the like.

Any of you DropBox users know of a plugin for FireFox that would do the above quick grab type thing?

Iain was talking about right click to add to imgur extensions, maybe that's what you're remembering. I've completely switched to that for image linking and rehosting now. I still use Dropbox for everything else though.
