You're off to a great start though with getting the "scoop" on certain things, but I would say that it would be better if you didn't get a reputation for a reporter using your typical forum antics and angst.. I'd rather see articles full of scandal, rumor and innuendo.

There isn't much scandal, rumor and innuendo in the gaming industry. Or at least not a lot I'm willing to publish. It was easier before, now that I know a lot of the folks personally, it's not as easy. Also, favors, blah blah blah blah. More than that though, Brad McQuaid was a one time thing. Though I could probably get a really good interview out of the people closest to Lord Crazy himself. Unfortunately, Lum wasn't close enough to him.

If you want malicious jollies, I had an idea earlier tonight.  Only problem being, it hinges on WotC actually finishing and releasing their virtual table for the new D&D.  But, if they ever do get it running, a group of people can harvest much angst by assembling a 'random' group online consisting of three very un-random players, one un-random DM, and one random victim player.  The three players should proceed to fuck up, as often and as catastrophically as possible, preferably with the consequences falling on the fourth player, while the DM needs do nothing more than not act to prevent it.  Set off every trap, run into the next room before the current fight is even halfway done, claim that your god demands that you shout loudly all the time to avoid cowardly acts like surprising your foes, etc.

Actually, if they ever finish that, I'm hoping people run campaigns. I want some D&D action :( Or at least CoC. Or any of the cyberpunk games.

If he's got two months, he MIGHT make it into a small group of time-starved players just entering Karazhan by the time he hits 70 and gets enough gear for anyone to look at him.  Alternately I think he'll just get bored and move on to something else 3 weeks into the project.

I doubt he'll even get to 70, let alone do a raid, let alone do it with a guild, let alone do it 'all the way up', let alone being influential enough for immature antics to be even a speed bump, and so on and so on...

Bad timing. WotLK is (most likely) coming out by the end of the year. Before you can accomplish your mission, you have to level to 70, get geared well enough to not be useless in Kara, and then finagle your way into the raiding guild. I'm not saying you can't accomplish this, but you might not be able to do it before complete ennui sets in on the part of everyone waiting for the expansion to drop. So you'll end up having to level to 80. By which time, heh, you'll be bored and/or sick of WoW.

Besides, any guild leader with any sense (i.e. one who's managed to herd his/her 25-man team of cats raiders through the upper raiding content) will kick your ass out if you turn out to be a troublemaker.

The rest of what you said is true, but this is only true in theory, given the fact that raid guilds are regularly collapsed by drama-making troublemakers.

True, but more often than not it's done by 'the person who'll never get thrown out because they're fucking the raid leader' and not 'that guy that showed up a couple of weeks ago'. And I doubt teh level of dedication to this project is that high.  :grin:

The only level of play you could really fuck with would be the ultra-bleeding-edge of raiding in Sunwell and that requires getting through T4 to T6 content. That's way faster now with the advent of badge gear and ZA, but that's a lot of work to fuck with some poopsockers. Basically, the only guilds that would be forced to keep you despite you being a troublemaker would be guilds hitting Sunwell that REALLY need that extra resto-shammy or whatever.

I thought Schild would only play Paladins ?

You  have no chance of getting into a high end raiding guild unless you plan on buying a pre geared character.  You will quit long before getting in or wotlk would come out.

SA's gimmick is to grief people in online games and then post their stupidity on the internet, the very premise of what schild is suggesting here.  Sure he wants to grief an ubar guild instead of role players or cybering people for gold of the myriad of other things SA has done, but seriously, this isn't new shocking stuff he's proposing.

Perhaps I think too highly of him, but I'm sure he can come up with something more original.

Run a raiding guild, become so hardcore that you are capable of a "world first". Then at the eve of your victory either get the kill but gkick everone and claim all the "glory" yourself or just pull a guild bank ninja and disband. the nerdrage would be epic.

I'm in a big douchebag guild myself, but I'm not a raider - I'm one of the leechers who goes on raids with alts because I don't put in that many hours.

You should have done it in Eve, and if I had read this thread at the time I would have lent you a character with which to do it.  In stark contrast to Wow, Eve requires comparatively little effort and even less time to insert yourself as a key member of a corporation: it helps to be able to devote 5 or 6 hours a week to PvPing, and more will yield faster results, but there is no need to raid several times a week for hours at a time.  Social skills and the right choice of target will do to inveigle yourself sufficiently to cause substantial drama and damage.

One problem is that being "the best spy in Eve" puts you up against some pretty stiff competition.  Getting even vaguely noticeable drama (meaning that you won't get yawned at on the forums) means reaching a level where you can fuck over thousands of people, like one goon did with ISS.  Or stealing many tens of thousands of dollars' worth of stuff, like happened to Bob.  Or at least getting an NYT article about your exploits.  On the level of "join corp, become trusted, steal all their stuff" Goons, and no doubt others, do this many times a month.
