Title: Rockin' Album Covers Post by: stu on March 29, 2008, 10:56:38 PM I thought it would be fun to start a thread about album covers. They don't have to be ultimate favorites, just ones you feel are cool in some way or other.
Daft Punk - Alive 2007 (http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff26/stuabrtow/Daft-Punk-Alive-2007-419432.jpg) I like this one because I like black and I like neon. Also, it doesn't have the name of the music group on it! Bonus points for using font resembling what could be used for a title shot in a '60s horror flick. Squeeee. Title: Re: Rockin' Album Covers Post by: NiX on March 29, 2008, 11:37:32 PM I'm sure schild will be all over this thread within an hour or two unless he went to bed at a reasonable time, but that never happens.

Did Stray just call Don't Break the Oath a cheesy cover? One of my favorites, and a great album to boot. Here's one I loved as a kid, but it's kinda cheesy in retrospect. Also my first arena concert, and the massive stage Metallion blew my fragile mind. (http://www.talkingnfl.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/judas_priest_-_defenders_of_the_faith_pats.jpg) All the Maiden covers rocked: (http://static.rateyourmusic.com/album_images/s9979.jpg) (http://www.maidenmidi.com/images/death1.jpg) (http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/pictures/pictures05_powerslave/album05_powerslave_a_small.jpg) I once silkscreened the first couple Venom albums. There's really no music out there that's too heavy for me to tolerate, but it does definitely pass a threshold where there's no discernible pattern or flow and that's where it loses me. Completely. Deicide in my opinion sucks. Glen Benton's anti-God thing just is annoying and old. One track records tend to wear thin easily. A handful of songs on their early records have some good guitar work intermixed with the repetitive blast beating and overly driven riffing. I see they don't have the insanely muscle bound brother guitarists anymore, those two guys scared the hell out of me over how big they were.Plus I don't like the guy's singing/whatever-you-want-to-call-it style. edit: new keyboards suck Title: Re: Rockin' Album Covers Post by: Llava on April 04, 2008, 11:07:19 PM Yeah (http://www.myspace.com/morsprincipiumestmyspace), my (http://www.myspace.com/archenemy) metal (http://www.myspace.com/dtofficial) tastes (http://www.myspace.com/cradleoffilth) run (http://www.myspace.com/dimmuborgir) more (http://www.myspace.com/dethklok) along (http://www.myspace.com/chimaira) these (http://www.myspace.com/swallowthesundoom) lines (http://www.myspace.com/gojira). Dammit. Title: Re: Rockin' Album Covers Post by: stray on April 05, 2008, 11:25:11 AM Sepultura's not drama! Uh, or are they? Cavalera even does a lot of reggae now, so no need to listen to Cliff.
Hmm, since I posted an album cover, I'll just say that White Zombie is my style of metal. Whatever metal Mike Patton does as well. Even Metallica. I like metal bands with groove. A lot of bands can do it every so often (Pantera, Sep, sometimes Slayer, Machine Head), but their whole sound is based around it. Title: Re: Rockin' Album Covers Post by: Righ on April 05, 2008, 12:27:19 PM Its not so much that its the style of Deicide that is the problem, they just don't try hard enough. Here's a cover I had kinda forgotten about: (http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff26/stuabrtow/massive_attack_-_mezzanine-front.jpg) I almost posted that one along with the Dead Can Dance cover. Mezzanine is one of my favorite albums of all time. Title: Re: Rockin' Album Covers Post by: Fraeg on April 10, 2008, 12:58:14 PM pig destroyers new one

But the cover is awesome. Some might consider it NSFW? I can't find a lot of the albums I have online :( Edit: Also, you know why I don't like Metal covers? Because they look like crappy Magic: The Gathering art. But then there's stuff like this: (http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/9021/723fk8.jpg) Which is a fucking fist full of awesome right up in your damn grill. Title: Re: Rockin' Album Covers Post by: Righ on April 20, 2008, 09:46:04 PM MtG or not, some good (old school) metal album covers:
