That avatar is like Shindler's List meets Final Fantasy.  '

SOMEONE MAKE A GAME WHERE THE AVATARS LOOK LIKE THEY'VE ACTUALLY KILLED SOMETHING ONCE IN THEIR WRETCHED LIVES!

Huh.

I have to do Granado Espada at home first.

Then we'll talk, Lunia.

That's pretty much every MMO I've ever played except preCU SWG

See, once you have a zombie, everyone is screwed. Now schild is a zombie. I hope you're happy with yourself.

There have been some other decent new gameplay ideas to come from various hole in the wall azn offerings.  Most have gone under though because games that you actually need to try to be good at apparently piss people off.  I fucking hate people.

Knock yourself out.

The image of guy with sword on the Guide page with his hand stuffed down the pants got me rather wary, but then I guess the picture of "healer" right below explains his behaviour.

I'm not the zombie, it's Paelos!  See, he even admits it in some thread:

51%, and I'm Ash.

Then, I changed a few things and I'm Godzilla. I just want to eat people, ok?

I resent being mistaken for a monkey.  And look who's talking?  Aren't you the one with an island in his head?  It's probably a tumor.

PS  This game should be named Loonia.  It's really weird.

Do all these Asian keke style MMOG's have a program that spits out a web site based on a template? I'm surprised any live web designer could live through the multiple seizures required to see that much flashing shit.

it does look fun, but the amount of grinding to unlock that sort of skill chain n 'fun' is probably a lot :(

This is hitting open beta next week.  I missed the earlier closed beta but I hear despite looking like usual korean mmo trash it's not bad.  From what I understood it's like Diablo clone meets MMO + combos.

Did anyone give it a serious try before?

I dunno. I'm thinking "Playable at release" is pretty revolutionary. :)

I didn't have one, this game seems like every other Korean/Asian game I have seen, flashy with little customization maybe something different, but rarely not.  They are "pretty" but have little substance.

And actually WoW revolutionized the whole MMO industry, turning it from a side-market where 200,000 subs was a success and opening the game to the general populace.  I am sure the Asian market is capable of a breakout International success, but this isn't it, and neither are other offerings.  But hey if you want something different from Diablo then I am sure this should fit the bill.

For better or worse its influence will linger for a long time.

Unless the guy who made your budget is a complete fuckwit, 200,000 is still a decent success in MMOG terms.

I am not saying it isn't just saying that the game was a monumental success, love it or hate it.

I think the major thing that will come from the Asian MMO's is the alternative pay methods we already see cropping up in some future games.  Pay for vanity/special items, premier content, and micro transactions.

The lack of real penetration by the majority of these new Korean MMO's means that they still have a ways to go to really get the NA market to take notice.  But the same can be said for our own games going across the pond, the cultures are so different, I am not sure if transplanting the games without extensive and polished localization will really pay off any time soon.

But my main stance against them is they tend to be pretty but lack character customization, are a little grindy, and just look unpolished to me, I guess amateurish.

Yes thats why I was asking though.  Supposedly it's nothing like the normal korean trash (though it might still be trash).  It has 3 difficulty levels and several acts/stages, 6 classes with skill trees ala diablo, lots of random looot etc etc.

Basically all the info I've seen makes it sound like a diablo clone with some sort of action combat system.  I can't trust people elsewhere though to be jaded enough to really judge if that's true so I was curious if anyone here had played it much earlier.

I tried to give it a try but it kept giving me an error and crashing.  I'll probably give it a go on the 31st.

I've heard the terms "action" and "combo" used in reference to Lunia several times I'm still not sure why I clearly saw hotkeys on cooldown in that one ss back when this thread first appeared though.

I asked someone about this.  Supposedly the classes were setup with different types of players in mind.  The mage or whatever it's called is supposed to play like a normal MMO.  The fighter is supposed to be action oriented and the healer is supposed to be for "social" players (I've no clue what that means).

I'm not sure I agree with you in general though.  Diablo was somewhat action oriented and it had abilities with cooldowns.  Although I've no clue about the combos.  Perhaps general attacks used in a special order produce combos or some such.

Being a 'social' player indicates you love looking at health bars.

Can't I download this shit yet? Jesus. DON'T MAKE ME WAIT FOR MY SHITTY KMMO, GOD DAMMIT.

I've been playing this today and it has indeed turned out to be pretty interesting at least.  Each class has a basic and a special attack that can be used in a certain order to produce combos.  For the Knight actually performing a combo successfully can drastically increase damage output over just regular attack.  Also it seems there are ways to use skills to produce different combos as well.

The combat and boss fights have a lot of resemblance to a console action rpg.  Theres lots of items and random generated loot too though.   It reminds me a lot of diablo 2 in this respect.  I think the way they've done the animated story scenes between stages is very interesting too.  Im not sure it can really be called an MMO like this it's more like a multiplayer co-op rpg which also reminds me of diablo.

It has some of the typical korean downsides of course.   Because of how they made the classes actual characters in a story there are no customization options.  There's also an annoying enhancement system where you can "break" equipment but it appears theres a cash shop item to unbreak stuff.  So perhaps thats just one of the ways they plan to make money.   The xp seems ok at low levels but who knows how that will end later on.  The action element will probably be a downside in many peoples opinions as well.  It's got far more "twitch" than PC rpgs typically have.

I know how it will end later, but I'm guessing you dont want me to actually say something.  I will try to go on a newer K-game binge next weekend I'll be in the stix (Santa Rosa) this weekend for a bday so I can't try all the new stuff that's come out for a bit.  Besides I'm too busy playing Rumble Fighter and trying to reach "pro" status, somehow this game is f'ing hard..
