You can also tell it's Europe because the car has a manual transmission.

I know, hence my smiley and assertion that the right hand side was the wrong side, whereas we all know that it's the rest of the world that drives on the wrong side of the road :P Oh, and had some laughs yesterday at college with an LCD projector:

when i get in my car i'm in europe?!??!?!?!? That is brilliant! We can re-label manual transmissions as European engineering as better traction/acceleration/braking control, and the US will buy them again. Jeep engineers are kinda freaking, as they don't think Dodge will have any new manual transmissions they can swap over, and they may not get the funding to develop one for themselves. Jeep Wranglers, Ford Mustangs and Trucks (Rangers and Super Duties), Chevy Corvettes, the last of the American Iron with a stick shift...

Jeeps are useless gas-guzzling redneck ugly things anyway. American Iron should've died with the American dream back when the tech bubble burst.

I liked my old cherokee, but the newer jeeps don't do much for me. After testing the FJ, the rubicon just seems real cramped.
As for the guzzling redneck thing, you're exposing your bubble quite a bit today, schild.

Jeee I luv you too! Just spent the summer working and wheeling my CJ-7, just remember you are in the same boat as this "redneck" who still likes manual transmissions. Sky, you are crazy on the FJ, but then you might not be buying it with the options of hitting the dirt with it like I would.

Some creepy guy who knocked on my door asking if I was the Super. When I said no he left, came back and started pounding on our door. The guy from the apartment he's sitting beside told him we weren't home and so he camped out in the hallway. I went back to what I was doing only to have him pound on my door an hour later. He hadn't left the hallway, just sat out there. I had to call the cops. What did I learn? My camera can take pictures through the peep hole.

If they did, I know to complain to after it fell out at 25k miles. And no, my next car won't be manual, nor would I want it to be. I got my kicks.

I didn't realize that most Americans drove automatics. Every car my parents ever owned have been manuals. Speaking of my parents, my step-father is working in China, and my mother flew out there the other day to visit him. Here are some pics I took through Skype. Sex ads left on his apartment door: Weird Fruit: Ad for porn: China pro-tip: Ads asking for English tutors are quiet often actually Chinese people looking for a "good time".

Last week I drove my 2008 FJ (auto unfortunately, all that was available) from the Chicago area to Charlotte, NC. Over the whole trip I averaged 26.6 mpg, which isn't so bad considering it was loaded with about 2000lbs of cargo, and I kept the a/c on the whole time.

Not hardcore, no. I still remember the conversation we all had about off-road options and know it's not the best in the category for that kind of thing. I do want to be able to head back into the woods on the old tractor trails and be able to pull stuff around a bit, but I am really into the spacious interior of the FJ. I love the styling, too, but if the rubicon were more spacious I'd consider it. I'm still up in the air on manual. I used to love it when I was a kid, and it's definitely better in a lot of sticky situations, but I've gotten lazy over the last seven years with my automatic. Still, I've been speccing the manual 4x4 6cyl. Trying to trim options is the bitch, I had to let the $700 brush guard with $200 lights go, but I still want the skid plate in front. We just got possession of our family camp back from the woman who had life tenancy (my grandfather's girlfriend), so I want to get back on the trails back there, which started the whole FJ thing up again :) Problem is $$$. But house > truck, right now. Last week I drove my 2008 FJ (auto unfortunately, all that was available) from the Chicago area to Charlotte, NC. How do you like it? Is the rear door a hassle? I kind of wish it were top-opening rather than side. I heard a rumor that 2009 is the last production year, which is also why I'm trying to figure out how I'll be able to get one next year :(

@FatuousTwat - The first fruit (red, flappy bracts) is a dragonfruit, the second is a ya li pear (aka ya pear). I made galettes with the ya pear and pinenuts, with a black pepper-honey glaze.

The auto has a gear selector for L-2-3-4-5 So you can use it like a clutchless manual. As for the rear door, I drove Sidekicks and an Izuzu Trooper before this, so I'm used to side opening. And I'm 6'5" tall, and hate having to duck under top open doors to load shit. I do kinda wish the back window went down or the back windows would pop open just for air flow at speed.

Shame there's no reasonable way to put even a semi-decent lens on a mobile phone camera. While it's very purty that pic is a perfect example of why megapixels mean so little when it comes to image quality.
Autumn is gorgeous though, I'm determined to get myself mobile enough to resume my walks in the local woods soon, they're just stunning at this time of year.
