Was really happy with the bokeh on this photo in a bamboo forest.

Hey, I've had it with Adobe, but PSE6 is showing its age. I'd like a better editor/organizer on my home desktop, a Windows machine. I know, I know, Lightroom, but fuck Adobe, I've spent five hours today talking with their tech support about a botched installation of PS10 that mostly seems to involve their own components slap-fighting each other and I give up. (It was the usual tech support people going down a checklist--I drew the line at a remote user creating a new administrative user account and booting the machine remotely themselves, no thank you very much.)  I don't need something really muscular--I like Snapseed on Mac/iOS, for example. Looking to manage photographic workflow and do relatively simple tweaks. (Snapseed is so much better at its interface for small tweaks to specific areas of a photo...) Any suggestions? I've heard bad things about what Corel's done to bloat their software. I don't want Picasa raping my entire photo library like it's supposed to do.

I like the pigets, they look so happy.

No recommendations apart from checking out what is on alternativeto.net.

I tried a few freebies before moving to Lightroom, Khaldun, and Picasa was the only one I found acceptable, unfortunately.    Then I heard about their EULA, actually read it and said "well fuck" and moved on to Lightroom.

Awesome, you have an A & P? I built a BD-5 before I joined the airforce and helped restore an old T-6 at the school I got my A & P at.

No A&P (yet), but not far from it.  It's an Experimental - Amateur Built. It's actually pretty straight forward when you follow the kit plans, the hard part is figuring out avionics wiring and some of the engine stuff.

We had a box turtle wandering down at the road in to my subdivision today.  Little guy was trying to make it to the creek across the road, I believe, so I helped him along because he'd have been a very dead turtle had he tried.

Of course I snapped a few shots first.

We've seen them in the woods around here from time to time, and we pulled two off the road in similar circumstances. I keep being amazed that they survive both the road-crossings and not getting taken by people for pets to have a reproducing population.

My current car project.

9 months ago:

Today. (All the work I do, including painting, I do myself in the garage right behind it.

Very nice work!  A single car garage isn't too much fun to do all the work from, is it?  I'd post pictures of my current project but they are pretty embarrassing.

The swap is next, but I have a WRX waiting for my next project so I will probably use the current engine for now.

That's really amazing slog. I just spent an hour reading that thread. I have a friend who's a subaru nut, he's a moderator on some subaru forum and I'm sure he'll get a kick out of the rebuild.

My favorite part is the spray foam insulation from Home Depot that they used.  NAISOC has a lot of bad information on it, so I'm a little wary of using it.

I love rusty piles of crap from craigslist!  I'm guilty of viewing too many of them and berating the teenage owners over being morons and attempting to play with the big boys selling cars without even doing basic homework (like you know, a battery or mentioning it doesn't run after I've driven an hour to look at it).  I picked up this little beauty for $400 a few months back and am putting the engine back together while debating what else to do with the rest:

What exactly is that cargo strap holding in place?  Just keeping the hood from flying off at speed, or is something trying to fall out of the bottom?

I think that's crime tape.  Obviously some pervert tried to peek under it's hood.

The guy had the hood hinges disconnected so rather than risk it flying off I strapped it down (75lb hood flying off at 55MPH would make a mess).

Corporate group shot this week of 5 women, in the most hideous building ever. Was really struggling, partly because of the horrible setting but also because they were a very mixed group in terms of height and size. Found a solution to both problems:

Not sure if this will show up or not, since it's FB.  From my commute this morning.

But she takes lovely pictures while she's driving.  Just think what she could do whilst driving a busload full of school children!  It is a nice pic, though.  Gordon went to NY once on business and took some absolutely fantastic winter pics from his rented SUV.  Me?  All my pics involve my thumbs or my feet, unfortunately.  Photography is NOT one of my many talents.  Unless you like pics of thumbs and feet.  Then I rock.

I slowed way down (like 5mph) to take that pic, since it really did look like I was driving into a wall of fog.  And I was resting the camera on the steering wheel, just to be extra weird.

Lower it and chop the roof. Repaint it Metalic Emerald Green and have an awesome car. I had a Cutlass the same color and despite my "No green cars" rule, it was the most beutiful car I ever owned. Unfortunately that thing will get about 8-10 miles a gallon, but it will be worth it since Catalinas were about 7 feet wide and almost 20 feet long. I may be off a little bit on the dimensions though, it's been a while.
