Anne Rice passed away yesterday. I read Interview with a Vampire, and the rest of the vampire novels back in the day, and they were ok, but I couldn't get in to any of her other books. Still a bummer, though.

Interview was her best work, and she deserves plenty of praise for that, as well as her impact on modern vampire tropes (both good and bad).

Interview was a good book. Some of the other vampire books.
What other books are worth mentioning? I mean, Exit to Eden is not even great porn and it's a way way way worse movie. The Beauty books are decent porn but...
I dunno what else she wrote?

The first book in the Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy wasn't bad (The Witching Hour). It went off the rails with Lasher but the first was still decent. Her porn stuff just wasn't my cup of tea.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/actress-sally-ann-howes-dead-at-91/ar-AAS2Sm4?cvid=9bc57a4f05f946e79577db71c467d3ca&ocid=winp1taskbarActress Sally Ann Howes has died at the age of 91.
The British actress passed away on Sunday, according to an obituary published in The Times newspaper on Wednesday. No further details about her death have been disclosed.
With a career that spanned from film to stage to television, Howes was notable for her performance as Truly Scrumptious in 1968's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
In 1963, she was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Fiona in Brigadoon, though the show only ran for two weeks. She then starred opposite Robert Alda and Steve Lawrence in What Makes Sammy Run?, which ran for 500 performances.
Howes made her Broadway debut in 1958 when played Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, replacing Julie Andrews. She told Playbill in 2007 that the experience of performing in the show was "wonderful" and she "enjoyed it immensely".

Aw, man, Betty White. People jinxed her by talking about her 100th birthday so much.

It's a mark of how much of a presence she was that I was truly shocked she died at 99. I kind of thought she'd go on forever somehow.

There was never a moment in Sidney's life where he didn't look composed like a motherfucker.

I feel embarrassed not knowing he was still alive. I don't think I've heard anything about him for literally decades.
I remember watching "Let's Do it Again" and one of the other "trilogy" movies all the time as a kid. I wonder if they still hold up.

Bob Saget shuffles off this mortal coil.I couldn't stand him on Full House, or AFHV, and his comedy wasn't anything special, but I did appreciate the shock and horror of people that thought he was family friendly, and brought their kids to his shows.

He had some funny bits away from the family friendly stuff, which was made funnier by being such a family friendly icon.
All I can say about his death is "The Aristocrats."

Won't be too surprised if it turns out to be covid--he was part of that right-wing B-list celebrity world.

Dude looks so familiar but I can't remember where or when I saw his act. I looked him up and none of his comedy specials sound familiar to me. He apparently got his start as a street performer on Fisherman's Wharf, maybe I saw him there when I was a kid.

He's been clean a while. Doing a world tour through shitty countries can make a heart attack that much worse. My first guess is always drugs with every celebrity though. Whether it's through relapse or bad decisions catching up.
