If you frequent Starbucks, try this: Iced Grande Cinnamon Chai with Caramel Drizzle.

I used to work across a plaza from a Starbucks where I got to try every barista's favorite concoction. This one is by far my favorite. Venti Vanilla Bean Frap with six pumps of Valencia is good too; tastes like a creamsicle.

So at what point do you admit you're not drinking Coffee anymore?  Just curious.

The moment you walk into starbucks, you're not drinking coffee. Real men (and woMEN) know that the only good coffee is Dunkin Donuts Coffee.

Sure, there are some tropical and exotic brands, but meh, Dunkin rules all.

I'll contest this point. When I went to the Bay Area, everyone told me Peet's coffee was God's gift to mankind.

Unfortunately, I just thought it was overrated and not as good. Personally, I drink more straight black coffee than anything else. I prefer Sumata and Gold Coast as my blends of choice when I drink Starbucks. There's definitely no hate for Dunkin Donuts coffee though -- I just don't have one near me, surprisingly enough.

Although, for two weeks, my supermarket where I work was serving it to us. Mmmmm.

Edit: I suppose there's no way of ya'll knowing I drink 6-8 cups of black coffee a day when my first post to this mini-thread is about non-coffee drinks.

I just get whatever they have down stairs during the day.  And then I humor the wife with starbucks on the weekend.

Her drink of choice is a, and I quote: "Grande Non-Fat Extra Hot No Water Chai Tea Latte"

wtf, how I can I order after shes done and not feel like I'm taking an inordinate amount of time for everyone around me.

It is delicious though.

And I do love me a triple skinny pumpkin spice.

Tim Horton's coffee shops are an unofficial religion here in Canada, Krispy Kreme tried to move in a few years ago and were driven out because while their donuts were good their coffee was worthless.  I mainly go to Starbucks because the line at Tim Horton's is too damn long, not because I like their coffee more.

Tim Horton's coffee is vile.

However their new iced latte, while hard to find, is amazingly good.  (Not to be confused with the petroleum by-product known as the iced cap supreme.)

Now and then, Righ has a Starbucks latte.  I buy their beans and make my own coffee.  If I'm near Whole Foods, I'll buy their beans, because they are better.  Starbucks coffee beans are almost always just slightly over roasted. I forget the name of the company who makes them.  My coffee is better than Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks.  I don't about Horton.  I've never heard of him.  Coffee is my aeroplane.

When I went into Target to get the PSP on Tuesday, I noticed the fake pumpkins and orange/black M&Ms are out.  Good to know the pumpkin coffee is out as well.  It's almost mid-Semptember, after all.

Oh man did I ever shit the bed. Yesterday we got an email from the person who's gonna be our guide for a day in Tokyo. Her English has been impeccable, but yesterday she said "I'll meet you in the hotel robbie". So I sent a reply intended for Sauced that says "haha she said robbie. I can't believe this is for real. Love you!" but I forgot to change the "to" email addy and sent it to her. OOOPS. So I quickly send her another saying "oops that was supposed to be for my husband! see you in the lobby blah blah blah" thinking she wouldn't get it.

But this is the email I got from her in response:

Quote
Hello Heather san

as you know im not good at speaking english but im trying hard to be a good english speaker.
I may be make a lotta mistake while im guiding you. and it might be funny for you, but it'll make me sad. so please find another person who can guide you around tokyo perfectly. sorry

enjoy!
Lisa

I sent this in return:

Quote
Lisa-sama,

Please forgive me! I think you misunderstood. My brother is named Robert, and his nickname is Robbie. That is why it was funny for us. Robbie is a common nickname for Robert, and it sounds very much like "lobby". I am so sorry! I don't want to make you sad! Please, please forgive me! akui de yatta wake de wa arimasen. honto ni sumimasen. :(

I am very impressed with your English, I don't want you to think that I was making fun of you. I hope you will reconsider and still meet us at the hotel. We are bringing mebutsu for you and I hope you will enjoy it!

I hope we can still meet you on Sunday. Scott and I are happy people who find humor and laughter in every-day situations. Please give us a second chance! We will come to the hotel lobby just in case you change your mind.

Yours truly,
-Heather

Have I ruined it? I guess I'll find out on Sunday. OOOOOPS.

btw, I do not have a brother named Robert.

I'll avoid trying some elaborate and silly way of saying that you are wrong, and just choose to disagree with you. Though really, Timmy's coffee is all about the 18% cream. Oh, and the iced caps may be of questionable origin, but they taste great and are half the price of a frapacino.

One thing I will say for Starbucks - love the pumpkin scones.

Tim Horton's hot chocolate is vile, I don't mind their coffee. My wife refuses to listen to anything about their Iced Caps other than 'Look Honey, I brought you an Iced Cap'. She'd rather not know anything about their origins.

Yeah.  I did that too at work once.  Let's just say never talk crap about one of your company's suppliers president in an email thread if you ever want your boss to not forward it on to him unintentionally.  Crow is a very nasty tasting thing.  I can't even watch The Simpsons anymore because one of the characters there has the same name.

I've not yet done something like that but there's always time to utterly humiliate myself and/or mortally offend someone. Maybe it'll happen next year!

On coffee, I recently found a fairly famous coffee shop in London near Covent Garden (near enough to me to be worth it every now and again). It's no more expensive than any of the chains and I get a menu with about 4 sides of coffee beans with a selection of different roasts. They haven't got much seating so you end up in a snug with whoever else happens to be there, which can be fun.

Also Strazos: My dad occasionally suffers from kidney stones, something that seems to be in his family. I got to hear the great tale of how they treated them in Ireland back in thr 50's. You got in the back of an ambulance with little to no suspension and went for a 3 hour drive to Dublin and then 3 hours back over really bad, bumpy roads. They then gave you a pint of Guinness and hoped you were able to pass it. It was described as a lovely day out and a pint marred only by sickening, horrific pain the entire time.

She hasn't replied to my prostrations, but we're gonna go to the lobby anyway just in case. We woke up at 4:30 this morning and nothing is open yet, so we have just been wandering around eating onigiri and fried chicken from convenience stores and drinking cold coffee drinks. Yay!

On coffee. While travelling, we eat at lots of little joints all over the place. I will not eat at any excessively trendy joint, nor at an excessively cheap one. I like the middle ground. If you have a philosophy behind your food that varies from 'tastes great', I will probably move on. Anyway. We're eating at some decent place in eastern NY, trendy but some decent food. But the chalkboard for coffee is straight out of Trendbucks. A couple girls walk in and order something ridiculous.

Then a couple of older ladies sit down for lunch and tell the girl behind the counter to make them something nice, they're obviously regulars. Then one says "Oooh, that's nice, what is it?" The girl behind the counter tells her some string of words. The woman looks at us, looks at her friend, then finally asks the girl behind the counter to write it out for her.

Then a couple construction workers come in and order sandwiches. She asks what they want to drink..."Coffee." Girl got a bit peeved, but did serve them a plain old coffee.

Me, I like coffee, though I will throw stuff in there. Had some for breakfast while staying at the Inn at Long Trail last week, dumped in cream and maple syrup. But I dig the old-fangled bottomless cup-o-joe style.
