Hey 30 here, who knew I was one of the young'uns I think I found Waterthread from an interview Lum did with a webcomic I used to read. I think I went straight into some rant from Boogaleeboo and thought the place would be entertaining.

31 here. Unfortunately, I cannot recall what actually brought me here in Jan 2005 - I must have lurked for a little while and read some of the articles. Of all things, my first post came in a football thread. Reading my early posts was pretty damn painful, though.

Turned 35 this year, started reading threads here towards the end of 2005. Registered to post sometime in 2007 so I could fanboy Vanguard from you evil cynics. I can't believe how wrong I was.

43, with gray in my beard and a mohawk on my head. Feeling a lot older than a lot of you fuckers are.
I started reading Slownewsday.net until DAoC made Eldin lose his fucking mind, migrated to Furry2Furry.net, then followed the crowd to Waterthread where the rest is a history filled with cursing, hatred, cynicism and despair.

Join the club. :/ Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays or whatever. Tomorrow, I'm going to wash and wax the car, go shooting and then come home and clean house and do laundry - clearly I'm getting old, or at least act like it. :P

I wonder if Sony is actually planning to get the playstation network back up and running any time in the next year or so.
Jesus, their cyber security sucks. Xbox Live suffered the same crap, but they're back up.

Well, at least PSN being down doesn't cripple the other services I use via my PS4. It's OK, didn't want to play Destiny anyway.

I didn't even realize it was down since the only thing I use my PS3 for anymore is Netflix.

I'm just trying to make my account. :) The family picked up a PS4 for Christmas. I don't need to make a full-on account to use it. Unfortunately, last I checked the outage also affects the playstation store, which means I can't download the Netflix app or anything yet.

SO wait... you can't use your brand-new console because it requires to connect and that network is down because of the hack?
I'm so glad I've said fuck this whole generation of consoles now. Maybe they'll get over this always-connected nonsense now.
Nah.

I can use it. :) I can play the games I have and such, and it updated fine. I just can't create a playstation account at the moment, which means I can't buy stuff online (like DLC's) or get free stuff (like Netflix apps) that don't come pre-installed until it's resolved. Nor can I create friends lists. I'm pretty sure ALL online stuff (multi-player games and such) are locked off . I'm also a little vexxed that the copy of Last of Us that came with it is digital download only and apparently locked to one user account. (GTA 5 came on a disk).

When I was 22 I dated a 30-year-old woman with a 10-year-old daughter... who is 26 now, working as an elementary school teacher. So I could definitely be your step-dad.

I'm 25; how many of you could be my dad
I could never be your dad. Oh, Christmas... I'm SO over you. A few days before Christmas, we were notified that my nephew's uncle Michael, for whom he was named, died very suddenly. I adored Michael and have known him for many many years. I was very sad. That evening my aunt called to tell us that my Great Uncle Gus, who still owed me five dollars from when I was six, had a massive stroke and died. More sadness. :( Nice funeral on the 22nd. What was nice about it was that the priest had known my uncle his whole life so it was very personal and sweet. Lightning didn't strike me, which was also nice. Finally, Christmas eve my other nephew comes to stay the night which is always fun because he's sick and hilarious. We watched my favourite xmas films, Christmas Story, Evil Dead, the new Evil Dead and the very perfect Evil Dead 2. His favs, too. Definitely my nephew! Christmas is looking up! Christmas day comes and Princess Spike, the iguana, is obviously not well. Next day we take him to the exotic pet vet where he dies. He was only 17. I got one of those electric book machines but I don't know what to do with it yet. I'll sort it out when I'm done sighing. Today, in about an hour, we bury old Spike in the gully behind the house where the other iguana has been laid to rest. We do nature stuff. Next year I want shoes. Nothing else. Merry Christmas you lot. I love you to bits! Sparkly bits!

I had a great Christmas. My grandmother died about two months ago and my grandfather is still alive. We brought him to my other grandparents house to interact with the larger family so he wouldn't be alone.
He's gone from talking about wishing it was him to smiling and interacting and asking questions again. He's returned to the land of the living, and that was the best gift I got.

I have a friend Brofella's age who frequently references his dad's video gaming and musical tates. I find we share a similar background.
So yeah, you're young enough to be my kid, too.

Signe, this statement probably makes you the 'old crank' winner of this thread. Maybe Ironwood can pull something off at the last moment, but I doubt it. Other than that, sorry for your shitty xmas. I will forever remember your xmas next time I'm about to bitch about mine.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe
