Get out that river and sling that thing.  Time to move on.

(Speaking as someone who had to have his wedding ring cut off years ago and hasn't worn one since, it's amazing how quickly you get used to not having it.  Having it, on the other hand, isn't ideal for a variety of reasons.)

Mental thing.  It will take roughly one day to get over the finger thing, and deep down you know it.

Took me about six months for my finger to stop feeling weird.  I still every now and then have the "shit, I lost something, what is it" feeling (like the feeling I get when I suddenly notice my pockets are too light) on that hand.  My loss-aversion wiring runs deep.

And it could be yours, for the low LOW price of a ring you don't even particularly want anymore!

Hmm, maybe.  I tend to think that has more with the head than with the finger, but maybe there's no difference at the end of the day.  Anyway, it reminds me of another "habit" that I haven't broken after many years.  I quit smoking something like 5 years ago, but before then I had this little mantra I would repeat to myself in my head before leaving the house for any reason.  Wallet, keys, lighter, cigarettes, money.  I would repeat it to myself in that exact order, to make sure I had all of those items on me.  Well, I still do it 5 years later, despite the fact that I don't ever carry a lighter, or cigarettes, or cash.

I feel your pain.  I'm going to be there too in a couple of weeks.  Turns out telling the boss that shit needs to change or you're leaving isn't a winning strategy if they ain't prepared to change.

Yeah you don't want to go bluffing with that one.  Of course, you leaving is a change, isn't it?

Had to take down four spiders this morning.  One of them just so I could get out the door.  I did enjoy the weather this summer, but the spiders have officially taken over.  My house is definitely ready for Halloween.

My employment situation was temporary, and this "job hunt" is sort of preemptitive. It's possible this turns into a very long-term thing, but it's sort of a crapshoot.

France is trying to ban child beauty pageants and stuff like that.  Now I don't mind that so much because it's really creepy to see little kids in all that glamour make-up and skimpy clothing and stuff.  However, they also want to ban adult clothing, like high heels and padded bras in child sizes.  So what about the adult tiny people?  What do they do?  They can't ban small clothing for grow up tiny people, can they?  Well, besides the fact that it's France so of course they can.  I'm not a little tiny person by any means but I could have been.  Say my mother married a dorf then I could have been a dorf and stuck wearing baby rompers and Maryjane shoes.  (ok, I do have Maryjane Sketchers, but they're grown up Maryjanes)  They already don't make condoms for tiny men who have to use cling film and rubber bands, or at least that's what I've heard.

I just realised that this is the absolutely only forum on f13 that I use correctly.   Ohhhhh, I see.

PS  Sorry about everyone's jobs.  I don't have one of those either.  People in my family don't seem to understand the words, "Get a job!" or "Don't put that in your mouth!"

It's also my nephew's birthday.  He always has a pirate party on this birthday.  I never go because it's WAY too wild for me.  I bought him underwear at his girlfriends request.  Was weird.  Yarr.

Why do SUSE employees pretend we don't all know what "rpm" stands for?

So. I installed this little add-on in Chrome that changes "the cloud" to "my butt" and forgot everything about it immediately.

Every once in a while I have to read announcements (like the First Blood Patch for Dota2) several times to understand what the fuck is going on.

I troll myself. Awesome.  why so serious?

Why do SUSE employees pretend we don't all know what "rpm" stands for?

Isn't one of the core ideas of enterprise software to document stuff with the assumption that no one knows what anything stands for?  Maybe they are playing to the SLES/SLED crowd?
