No, I keep a few swords and several knives around my desk in lieu of the axe. They're more decorative.
Signs about guns will just invite people to steal said guns. Smart thieves case places, the druggies are the ones breaking shit to get in and don't care either way.

I was robbed by gunpoint on Halloween when I was 22. I was working in a Deli alone. There wasn't much money but I tried to give him a bowl of candy, which he didn't want. He shook the gun at me, which made me giggle because I was nervous and he was wearing a floral print sheet with the eyes cut out. He shook the gun at me and told me to get on the floor and open the register. I argued. D'oh! He left. The Deli was right near the house I lived in so, instead of calling the cops, I called my mom. She ran over with a broom and my sister called the cops. I suck at getting robbed. Yes, it was Halloween and I was stoned.

It was a twin-bladed hand axe I got from RenFest. $10 from the Pirates during one of their crazy end-of-day give-aways. It's fancier looking than any of my other weapons. (Granted, I don't have an Angel Sword blade.)

That does not sound practical for hewing a man's neck. I mean cordwood.

Hadn't been burgled before university and while there it only happened twice both in the same house because one of our housemates was a dumb ass that didn't bother telling anyone his window wouldn't lock. The first time we actually interrupted the guy, he was upstairs and came screaming down the stairs and then legged it out the back door (other bad point, the back garden basically backed onto a hill that led down to the river with a public footpath so was very accessible). It was a weird moment of thinking it was one of the guys playing some weird joke before running after him, though naturally not too fast in case we caught him. He didn't take much but had been stripping the rooms and piling the valuables into bags, he'd also taken a chef's knife and left it one of the bedrooms so we guessed he'd taken it to check all the bedrooms which was kind of freaky. The second time they just broke into the idiot housemate's room and took his stuff, we're not even sure if there was anyone else in at the time or not but after that we figured out how they'd broken in the first time. Apparently he assumed we knew and someone else would have reported the broken lock.

Oh, and one more thing.... I'm intrigued. I'm drooling. And in the creepy-weird files - chatting with a co-worker today over IMs and she mentioned she's staying with the original company when we split up at the end of the year (boo for me!). Mentions where she lives, oh, I'm in next door town. She mentions street intersection, I'm in next intersection over. We could walk to each other's places. Oh, and our husbands have the same name. It's just so weird.

Your husband is a bigamist. Bigamy is having too many wives. So is monogamy.

Well this is just the saddest thing ever. Veterinarians at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington have ruled out the possibility that a newborn giant panda cub was crushed by its mother, but an initial necropsy on the 4-ounce cub failed to provide a clear cause of death, officials said Monday. The cub, believed to be a female, died Sunday, just six days after its widely celebrated birth. Just the size of a stick of butter, it had not yet been named.
.......
The cub's mother, Mei Xiang, cradled a toy throughout the night in place of her newborn cub, but she appeared to be healthy -- eating and moving toward normal activity.

A home defense 'tool'. It's basically a cool-looking hatchet from Ontario Cutlery, thinner than the usual woodchopper type. It really says "Don't make me make you shoot me", I think.

Good multi-tools. I have a similar one, but mine's the old ww2 issue version: That gerber axe on the left is basically a rip off of the fiskar's splitting axe I use (my main axe): I also have a couple splitting mauls, a couple axes and a double-bitted axe that I need to re-helve. And of course a couple hatchets. The thing people find most ominous in my garage is my scythe, it's pretty massive (and useful!). I like hammers, too; I have a bunch of those, too. From tiny tack and finish hammers all the way up through several sledges. And saws...probably a dozen... Not just collecting for its own sake, I use all of them now and then. The woodsman's pal, splitting axe, hatchet, and 4# sledge (along with regular hammers) get regular usage.

Nope, I understand. The right tool for the right job. If you're doing regular amounts of work you'll have that. A framing hammer is worlds different from a finish or tack hammer. Saws and axes are the same way. You wouldn't think it, but it's true.

The back notch on the woodsman's pal is the thing for clearing woody brush. You could take forever with loppers or just swing through it with the WP. I inherited about half my tools, which is when I realized how awesome it is having the right tool for a particular job. With sledges, I use the 4# with the wood handle with wedges for splitting (usually gnarly billets); where the 3# sledge with the metal handle is better for general use, smaller and more precise head.
Then there's mason tools and drywalling tools, electrical tools, plumbing tools. I'm getting to where I'm going to need more storage for it all. Saws would be from jeweler's saws (for minis) to back saws (miter), drywall saw, coping saw, hack saws, bow saws (metal and wood frames), rip and crosscut american saws, japanese saw, limbing saw, and of course my new old table saw. I'm hoping to talk an older friend out of the two-man saw and big lumberjack looking crosscut that were her late husband's.
Oh! And shovels and rakes, got a variety of those. Maybe eight shovels, long handle, short hangle, spade, flat, feed, snow, etc. I think only four rakes, two metal rakes, one metal leaf rake and one plastic leaf rake. And how about planes? Rabbet plane, shoulder plane, jack plane, smoothing plane....hell I use a plane to shave old boards for tinder. Shavings are so much better for firestarting than newspaper!
Tools are cool.

Totally. I mean, I can use a coin flip and a d10 to simulate a d20 roll, but it just isn't the same.

Why? You can just roll the d10 twice to get a d20. You don't need a coin.
