You're probably right. Last night I had two glasses of red wine and on the weekend I drank only beer. Scotch is my "today was crazy, I'm gonna sit down and chill" late-night thing.

One thing to know to enjoy Scotch whisky: Scots generally add water (to a level that suits your taste). When you have it at the right amount, it brings out the flavour and enhances the experience. You add the water slowly at a trickle, not fast like out of a tap. Somebody on Islay showed me how to test whether you've done it right, by tilting the glass, righting it, and looking at how the whisky clings to the side in an oily way. I don't really understand that technique, as it always seems to behave that way no matter how much I fuck it up. You are comparing the "legs" of the whisky. The more legs the more alcohol. Works the exact same way as the legs in wine. Sorry to interrupt the Scotch convo again (I guess I'm Sorry Cop).... To take a break from yesterday's clusterfuck of MS accounts...I decide to update an old mac to run some background tasks. It's on 10.6.8, awesome because that can go to 10.11 and then upwards. Find the direct link to the App Store page (they hide it from search), click Get. Need to enter billing for the free download, ok whatever. Click Billing....you need to upgrade to the newest version of macos to enter billing information.  I should've been a plumber. |

Look, time was when I heard someone say they didn't like whiskey, I'd try to find out where they'd gone wrong, and then suggest a treatment plan, but with scotch about to get more expensive thanks to Tariff Man, I'm not about to do anything that might result in increasing demand. More for me kthx.

Whiskey and dark Rum are both nectars fo the gods. Calvados is my other firm favourite (and I really want to do a Normandy orchard tasting, trying cidres and Calvadoses along with norther French cheeses  ) but I kind of understand people who are sensitive to the alcohol flavours. My dad has long been a fan of spirits but can't actually enjoy them, he loves buying whiskies or brandies as gifts but cannot drink it. Port seems to be a good alternative if the alcohol flavour is the issue and can be drunk in a similar kind of manner. Zacapa rum from Guatemala is my current longstanding rum option, shit is delicious. I've also recently been introduced to Vermouth with soda water as a long drink and if you like tart/bitter flavours it's a really nice refreshing one. |

I think by default, all alcohol is an acquired taste. I can get myself to drink and sort enjoy some kinds of whiskeys, but my taste buds generally prefer sweeter stuff. Dark rum, even spiced rum. I also prefer girly drinks.

The standard thing for any macOS update is that there's a lot of nail-biting during the beta period to see if they'll get their shit together by GA, and then at the last second they get it together well enough that nobody is any the wiser. I'm strangely glad that this time around everyone else gets to feel some of the pain.
