I use a yahoo mail account to dump anything into that I don't trust not to spam me or add me to spam listings. Today I decided to maintenance it, and apparently you can break the shit out of it by scrolling and continuing to select all until you have 3000+ messages selected and then hit the report spam button.

Are you on the old client still?  I can't do that to more than 50 at a time.

What you have to do is select all, then scroll down more, then click on the little arrow next to the selector box and click all, then scroll some more and repeat until you have as many messages as you want selected. The problem I ran into was it broke when i used the arrow next to spam and hit report spam. My guess is it melted down because i reported all of their spam partners hehe.

I'll guess it melted down because under the covers of 95% of IT divisions is a pile of barely workable panda shit.

What, no. Never.

Next you'll imply that because it's technical work way beyond the understanding of most execs that it attracts lazy people who bullshit well and tapdance stage left when things get awkward.

I think it's a requirement for maintaining whatever fragile sanity you have left to be able to bullshit executives when you work in IT.

So I found out this afternoon that I get to go back into surgery in the morning so they can drain some fluid from my burst appendix that has collected in a location that they are unable to get to by other means.

While the view out of my hospital room window is pretty, it was never my expectation that it would be my only view of the outside world for over a week.

Enjoy your freedom celebrations tomorrow my fellow American F13 denizens, I envy your ability to eat and drink anything at all (even more so what you like) as I have been on a strict no food/drink regimen since Sunday afternoon.

The hospital food is crap and it's a great weight-loss regimen, so there's that.

Bummer Chimpy. Hope you get better.

On another note, it is hilarious when little kids really get into something.  My boy has been devouring the different Rick Riordan book series and is now obsessed with mythology.  He can't pronounce half the names but he talked my ear off for an hour tonight about various primordial Greek Gods, certain Titans and several Olympians plus their Roman counterparts.  Made me smile.

Thinking of you, Chimpy.  Here's hoping you get well quicker than it's been going.

Though I've got to ask, if your're this bad off you have to have been close to rupturing, eh? So at least there's that avoided.

It actually had ruptured, thus the complications. Had a couple of abscess points where fluid had collected that they went back in this morning. I am feeling better and they just put me on clear liquids so I can actually "eat" something for the first time since Sunday afternoon.

Am feeling considerably better than even a day and a half ago. Still have several days left in here while my GI tract starts back up after being effectively turned off for a week.

It is a damn good thing all of my sick time for the year at the new job was credited to me at the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1.

Interestingly enough, my dad went through the same appendix problem back in early April.  It ruptured and got REALLY badly infected, he was in the hospital for almost 9 days.  He said he really doesn't want to do that again.

My kid got to witness a seven year old drown at the pool today.  Now he won't talk about it.  The world sucks sometimes.

Was this a public pool? I've heard of it happening before, but I've always wondered how that's possible with lifeguards and parents around.

ACK!  Shit, I hope he recovers well, Ab.

And, yeah. Unless it was incredibly crowded or a lake pool. I haven't lifeguarded in 21 years but I still keep an eye on others at the pool.

Was at a rec center pool with lifeguards on duty and the kid's dad was there too. They didn't even see the kid, another kid told the lifeguards about him being under and then they took him out. No one knows how long he was under. My wife is pretty traumatized. My kid is pretending like it didn't happen.

And this is why I spent nearly 2 hours in the pool on the 4th.  Helped that it was overcast, otherwise I'd be beet red today.

other parent: "Hey, I'm going to leave my kid in here and go drink.  She can't swim but has a pool noodle/floaties"

Even then, I caught myself losing track of one them at a point.  Freaked me out.

That sucks, Ab.  Hope the family feels better.

What do you do when your kid won't talk about an event that -has- to be traumatizing? Its so easy to fall on platitudes like "kids are resilient", etc, that I bet some parents just let it fade into oblivion. Do you wait till your kid starts showing signs of trauma, such as sleepwalking, acting out, etc? Or do you go all helicopter parent and send them to a shrink? I'm sorry this happened Aba. As a non-parent, I don't have any advice and I can't imagine how you feel about it, but these are my immediate thoughts.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe
