My new boss is actually serious about having a mid year review. Baby managers are so annoying.
edit: I'll refrain from further on topic bitching or schild is going to hit me through the internet.

OK, I do really know why people have Wintel servers. Is it OK to pity them?
As for managerial reviews, since I've learned to play the game I really welcome the reviews. Baby managers are annoying for a host of reasons, though.
I do believe that white it may be "cool" to not play the game, ultimately it's detrimental.

Ohh, I'll play, it's just going to be pointless. This guy has about as much sway as a stapler at the moment. He really got walked all over during this last resource action, and I get the impression from line management that he's not taken seriously. We've got managers in the org that will snag any promotion out from under him. I've just actually never really had a mid year review. No manager I've been under has ever done one seriously. It's not a thing here.

I'd have expected that your ratings and whatnot would be available for use during later opportunities, whether your manager is empowered or not. Good luck!

Same, Yeah. That'd be why it's important to take them with at least some form of seriousness. But the forum had this conversation at the same time last year and it didn't end well.

Glowing review. We're getting tiered at the mid point, since they can't actually give scores until end of year.

I can see going to Louisiana, though, if you live in San Antonio. I have relatives in Somerset, and based on the snippets here I suppose that they are pretty normal. Which isn't good. In NO, there is a trolly that goes from Tulane to the business disctrict to the party district. My advice: leave your family behind so they aren't traumatized.

That. And I say that as a resident of Mississippi. Granted, I wouldn't live anywhere else in Mississippi but Jackson for the same goddamn reason but... just no.

I spent two years in Louisiana while in the military. New Orleans was a cool city for a 19 year-old kid on the rare occasions we made it down there. The rest of the state is a massive, stinking armpit.

Detroit is not on my list of acceptable places to go, let alone live. I like cold, so 10000 ft up in Colorado seems fine.
Right on! Also, weed. Need a roomie? :p

My current goal is to find a job back in the mountains. Colorado, Utah, and Northern Az are all on the list. I'd even consider Alaska or Montana for the right offer. I miss the proximity to the outdoors that I had when I lived in Wyoming.

Too bad the last thing I need is a college chick. Right now it's in that awkward somewhat thin but not quite enough to say, "fuck it, it's all coming off," phase

Yeah, but if you wait until your hair is at that stage, then it's obvious you're shaving your head to hide the hair loss. If you do it now, then it's just a statement of cool. On another front, there is nothing like having your big boss say "well, we can all agree that this unfavorability isn't coming from this category, right?" Especially when it's the category the finance manager has been beating me up about for the past few months. I showed where all the chargeouts were, where and why some of the money stayed in the dept and basically proved that it wasn't this area that was causing issues. Unfortunately, that now means I got more action items to figure out where some of the missing chargeouts are hiding, which means doing an analysis for all employees, contractors, consultants and labor loans. Yay me.

Then it's time to buzz it close instead of shaving, if you haven't done so already. Otherwise it just looks like you're prepping for The Combover.

Georgia has escaped a lot of heat due to Chantilly Lace or whatever the storm is that's rolling through.
Actually we've had record rains, which despite ruining July 4th weekend, I'm always in favor.

I go to brush my teeth and think "Wait, that looks wrong. What's with that molar? OH FUCKING GOD. WHERE IS THE REST OF MY TOOTH?"
I think it's just a filling that dropped out (albiet one that is -- not on, IS a corner running from top to bottom on the back outside of a molar), but it looks freaky as hell and I have no idea when it happened. I think maybe today? Yesterday at worst?
So I'm seeing the dentist in the morning. After having a bit of a mini freakout. (I have soft teeth. Genetic thing. Prone to cavities. And it's been, you know, at least 18 months since I was supposed to see the dentist. So, yeah, missing large chunk of tooth? My brain went to root canals and extractions, things which I have so far avoided).
I'm sure it'll just get cleaned and they'll slap a new filling in and force me to make an appt to get my teeth cleaned, but still.

One of my backup career plans is to look into legal supply options. I used to grow some real amazing strains back in the day. It's all about the breeding. Fed's got to lighten up first, though.
