Do you have to cast it back into the fiery chasm from whence it came?

Rivendell would be the more likely destination for a reforging job.

For a ring, clearly you'd need to rekindle the forges of Eregion.  why so serious?

I just agreed to buy (by putting down a $500 credit card deposit) the first car I have ever bought that was not A: a junker or B: bought from a family member.

Going to drive down to St Louis on Friday to pick up my new 2011 GTI (last year's model but still new so full warranty etc.). Got a good deal on it and they are going to give me 1k for my Hyundai in trade.

Grats!!!

I have a 2004 GTI that I've been considering trading in on a newer model, but I just can't seem to part with it.  I love the car.

How would someone 6'1 with broad shoulders fit in a GTI?

The car has an amazing amount of room, particularly when you buy it with the optional Roccaro bucket seats!

Grats!  I was seriously thinking of buying a GTI before I bought my new car.  I ended up buying a Audi A4 instead (size / options)

I want to buy an Audi TT so badly that I can taste it.

How do you like the A4?

I looked at a lot of things a few months ago, including a GTI and a blue WRX STi, and finally got a good deal on a Infiniti G37.  It's a good middle ground between a race car and a dad sedan.  Great upgrade over the Altima.

I like it alot!  It is a awesome road car and beyond nice to drive.  My only issue is I really really have to watch how fast I go.  It really wants to cruise around 80 and the highways around here are only 60...  I almost sprung for the S4 but I decided to keep my old truck along with the car (2004 toyota tacoma).  I could not justify the extra 15k and the reduced gas mileage / upkeep while keeping the truck.

As far as why the A4, I looked at damn near every equivalent car before I bought it.  Lexus, BMW, Infiniti, mercades were all nice the A4 just came out ahead on a few things. Better AWD and a good local dealership mostly.

2door DSG with sunroof and premium audio, splash guards, all weather mats. Basically only thing it is missing is navigation. Union grey metallic paint. Picking it up tomorrow as was not going to be able to take Friday afternoon off.

Yeah the G37 is a great driving car and it's more roomy in back than the other cars in its segment. About the only thing that's not so good is the gas mileage. Oh and the rear view mirror doesn't adjust enough for tall drivers.

Almost *almost* bought a 2011 G37 with 8k miles, but the previous owner was a smoker so no joy. Ended up getting a brand new 2012 F150 Ecoboost instead. (yeah yeah, other direction completely. I convinced myself I would find the truck more useful).

It came down to the G35 and my S80 when i was looking a couple of years ago, but it felt a bit cramped for me. I think I will look at the Infiniti M series next go round although I'm seriously thinking about going with a plug-in Fusion.

So there is this woman at work.  Kinda youngish, works in marketing.  A bit chubby on the lower half, but otherwise unremarkable....

Except for the fact that she always wears any given outfit two days in a row.  I mean, if she came to work on Monday wearing black plants with blue shirt, then you can bet the bank that she is wearing the same exact black pants and blue shirt on Tuesday.  No idea how she deals with the fact that there are an odd number of days in the week, or what she does about her undergarments.

But anyway, that just strikes me as fucking weird.  Wearing an outfit twice before you wash it is fine, but two days in a row and you do it so often that someone otherwise as oblivious as me notices it?  Fucking weird.

I am happy with my 23.5 mpg.  Not significantly worse than the 3.5 Altima.  I find that the traction control system required me to learn about it before driving effectively, or maybe that is the CVT, since there is a bit of a lag between braking and accelerating.  I generally leave it on since I can't be trusted to not spin the wheels in some cases, so I haven't determined which one it is.

Looks like something was reported to the IRS that wasn't on your tax return.  From what this page says they just want you to correct it.  http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=249741,00.html
I doubt you will get audited unless it off by a huge amount.  Hopefully it doesn't mean someone stole your identity.  This is how a buddy of mine found out he got his identity stolen :(.

It's looking pretty cut and dried, as long as they accept my explanation.  During my rollover of my 401k into the personal IRA in 2010, Bank of America cut me a check for the amount that I put into the 401k that I had tax withheld on.  The untaxed parts went into the IRA, of course.  I have the 1099-R where Box 2a "Taxable amount" shows zero dollars.  So I suppose I'll write a statement to that effect and send in a copy of that 1099-R.

Not sure why they think April 2012 is a great time for reviewing my 2010 return.  I suppose I will have to be ready for a 2011 review in 2013.

Yeah the G series is smaller than something like an S80. The S40 would be a closer match in size to a G35/G37. When I was looking at cars the M Hybrid was intriguing but it was a lot more than what I was willing to pay for.

It was +15 C (60ish F) yesterday and today we have a heavy snowfall warning of 10-15cm (4-6") overnight.
