The salary is two packs of Magic: The Gathering boosters per day. Your pick of either New Innistrad or the 2012 Core Set.
That salary is horrendous. You have to offer Schild foils.... precious, precious foils.

Another thing you could do is just pretend it's time for another server donation drive. Seriously, some of us are not sharp and wouldn't even notice. Instant cash!
Hope you land on your feet.

Donations between now and the server drive or whenever I get a job (whichever happens first) will go towards keeping me sane.

Sorry to hear about the job. Not sure what your computer or IT background is or what sort of work you do, but I know there are still lots of programming and IT jobs to be found outside of the game industry.

Every morning at my office we have a meeting at 8:15 to discuss what is going to happen during the day. The meeting lasts for 15 minutes and we see our first patient at 8:30. We put up a huge sign (it's even bright red) at the front desk explaining this, yet it never fails that there are patients milling around the front desk looking irritated because there's no one there. People never cease to amaze me.

Some kind of receptionist is in order. I wouldn't make it a young one with big tits though. She might get pregnant.

Don't be daft.
It's like complaining about blistered feet in a cripple ward. Sure, you're in a better position, but at the end of the day your feet still hurt.

Wait, Ironwood works in HR? That sounds like a really awesome episode of The Office.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I don't have any specific job advice. There do seem to be lots of contract openings for people who grossly exaggerate their IT skills, though. I probably should get onto that bandwagon, but I've somehow come to an understanding with my job and am generally happy now.

It seems as if it's a rough time to be in the video game market. Would this be a good time to go back to school, i.e. get an advanced degree of some sort? MBA or some such might not be a bad gig.

Just watched this clip and now I sorta want pernonin' to be a new word. Perhaps it means to perma-own. Like, when you repeatedly get killed by the same dude in CoD, you're pernowned. Sorta like renowned, but the reverse.

It's always a rough time to be in the video game market. If you aren't employable right now, fresh from your redundancy then you probably aren't going to be any more employable two to three years from now after removing yourself from the jobs market to chase an advanced degree. If you have the funds to put yourself through that without working then you probably don't need that degree to get a new job anyway.

I meant as a way to get out of the video game market, i.e. get a degree to make yourself attractive to some other field of work.

Next on Discovery Channel! Dumb rednecks risk it all to make custom guns, while bidding on storage lockers of people who panned for gold, while hunting over populated wild boars in Alaska's gold country as they brave the high seas in search of sword fish and the elusive king crab!

So after posting in the Christmas Greed thread, I figured I'd comment here to about the "family drama" part.
So after the letter the MiL sent to us in early October, the husband hasn't called his parents on Sunday morning like he has been for the past 4-5 years. I think part of it slipped through because of my surgery, and he did reply to an email his mom sent (How's RF? Fine, gets out of hospital on F) and kept it short and sweet. But they've made no attempt to contact him to catch up either, which really makes me understand a comment the BiL said to his parents when they were visiting at the end of September. Apparently MiL said something like "why can't you call more often like your brother does?" and BiL responded "the phone works both ways."
So yeah, the whole bit about cutting off contact with family members? I think they have to notice they've been cut off for it to be effective, and I'm not sure the in-laws really have.
ETA - Sorry to hear about the job, Schild. I had a bad feeling when you posted asking for legal employment advice a few weeks ago. :(

Well, the point of "cutting them off" should be to not have to deal with them. If it's a cry for help, it probably won't work.
