Is Divinity Dragon Commander any good? It looks like a strange melange of flight sim, RTS, and talking with the crew of the Normandy.

And apparently you can marry an undead skeleton. So... yeah.

The rts stuff is pretty crap, IMO, but made slightly more fun by the fact that you can take the field as a totally overpowered superunit.  The dialogue sections were pretty neat, I thought, if you can get past the idea of elves and dwarves arguing modern day political points.

I thought it was fun if you can get it for cheap.  The graphics and setting are interesting even if the core mechanics aren't anything special.

Disclosure: I have a stupid number of hours in this stupid game for no good reason other than I started creating scenarios for it and for whatever reason both really like it and it's a good way to pass conference calls or just oddly scratch the same part of the brain that MMORPG quest grinding hit.

That said, I'd go TS 2014 over Trainz without any hesitation. Both are definitely DLC heavy, but it helps to remember that the DLC is different than other games - the fanbase tends to be rather parochial when it comes to what they want to buy.  Americans tend to focus on North America and Canada, Germans and Germany, Brits and England. Freeware and 3rd Party support tends to fill in the neglected countries.

But as for the Steam Sale - it's a good mix of stuff to toy around with at $8.24.  Hamburg is a really nice German route (though the German fanbase seems to come up with some straight up BS time sensitive scenarios).  London-Faversham is short, but gives you a neat high-speed train to toy around with for passenger runs.  The weak link is really Donner Pass.  Even though they've revised it somewhat, it's just not that interesting a route (at least for me) to run as it's predominately drive up a mountain, drive down a mountain (which some people really like doing, but I'm not one of them).  Also, half the career scenarios/Steam achievements are broken for it.
Still though - between the three, there's a good mix of long/short mainline runs, switching (or shunting if you're a Brit), and passenger runs.
So I picked this up because my boy loves trains and anything to do with trains, and while I was at it I picked up a steam engine DLC package. I go into the game to play with the steam trains and there is literally no way to use them all individually without buying another 80 bucks worth of routes. Super frustrating.

Try quick drive - you should be able to place the engines into a route you own and drive around.  You may also have luck with the workshop. Worse comes to worse, I might be able to set you up with something depending on which steam engine it is.

So is community voting over?  I don't get a vote button on my front page any more.

Probably.  There's only 24 hours left in the sale, so its' about to switch over to encore day.

Is Shadowrun Returns worth playing through for 3.75?

Just to add to the positive reviews, I paid $8 for it and definitely got my money's worth. I bought Dragonfall on this sale and haven't played it yet, but the first one was a good enough old school RPG that I could recommend it even without an expansion or mods.

Ended up picking up a lot more than I thought I would:

Don't Starve $3.74
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons $2.99
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger $3.74
Rogue Legacy  $3.74
The Banner Saga  $12.49
Shadowrun Returns + Dragonfall  $9.73
Long Live the Queen  $2.49
Rock of Ages  $1.99
Archon: Classic  $0.99

Summer 2014 damage: $42.  Less like $3 in card sales.

Lots of indies this year it seems.

Picked up Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate, Fallout: New Vegas, and Borderlands II today to add to my FTL purchase. Hundreds of hours of gaming I will probably never get to, but it was only $25 or so for the whole sale. I spend that on lunch some days  awesome, for real

Who needs cards? I have 2 and can't be arsed to bother collecting the rest.

Got Shadowrun: Dragonfall, the Judas Priest pack for Rocksmith, Payday 1, the first State of Decay DLC and the Buses and Monorails DLC for Cities in Motion 2. At this point, I'm mostly looking for DLC for games I haven't even played much yet.

I don't know what most of those things you just posted are.

I bought Payday 2 + DLC, Project Zomboid, Plague Inc. Evolved, and Assassin's Creed IV. Probably still going to buy 100% Orange Juice tomorrow, since it didn't go on Flash/Daily; South Park was my only other holdout but it didn't hit my threshold yet.

Ended up picking up a lot more than I thought I would:

Archon: Classic  $0.99

Thank you so much for mentioning this.  I didn't even realize there was a remake of Archon.  Just bought it.  My misspent 80s youth was spent playing that, M.U.L.E. and Wastelands.

If it has a somewhat faithful reproduction of the C-64 Archon theme song, it's totally worth a dollar.

This sale came just after I'd been paid two large invoices... I got carried away :/

Bulletstorm, Call of Juarez, Divinity: Original Sin, Don't Starve, Kingdoms of Amalur and State of Decay. My "Queued" Steam group is bulging now!

Hmm, not sure what I bought, honestly.  A friend told me I bought Batman: Origins, which I don't remember (not that it makes it any more unlikely) and don't really want, but I don't have a reciept for it.  It's in my library, though, so I guess I must have.

Pretty happy with my list, Planet Explorers may go down a a regret unless they improve the controls/responsiveness.

I send Samwise an invite since he wanted one of my games, but I'm not sure if that worked. Also I'm not in the F13 group I don't think. Probably need to remedy that.

Off the top of my head:

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
State of Decay
Shadowrun returns + expansion
Wolf Among Us
Dragon Age Ultimate (didn't have it on steam)
South Park

So just shy of $80? Probably should have held off for better on SP, but I nearly bought it new.

Yeah, I think you weren't in the f13 group, otherwise I'd have found you when I searched it for Paelos.  Welcome!

I bought a shitton of stuff this sale, should've followed schild's example and zero-inboxed first so I'd be able to keep them straight.  Battleblock Theater, Deadlight, Frozen Synapse, Metro: Last Light, Monaco, Orcs Must Die 2, Payday 2, Risk of Rain, Slender, The Swapper, Brothers, FEZ, Just Cause 2, State of Decay, Wolf Among Us, plus a shitton of gift copies of stuff I already own because it was really cheap.  I thought I'd bought Banished but I must have just thought really hard about buying it at 50% and decided to wait to see if it got cheaper, which I don't think it did.

I also sold a bunch of cards and used some of the proceeds to max out my Gone Home badge because I'm a shameless fanboy for that game.   DRILLING AND WOMANLINESS

I didn't get much of anything.  I did get the Divinity Original Sin and re-installed a bunch of games I already had from before this computer.  Now I'm getting cards again for some reason.  They seem to give you cards if you do something in a game that you haven't done before or something.  I dunno.  The cards make me twitchy.  I got the extra Divinity for my sister but it runs too slow to play on her MAC.  :(  I wonder if they'll give me a ha'refund?

I didn't get much this time.  Only bought: Baldur's gate 2:EE, Divinity Dragon Commander, Hitman Absolution and The Wolf Among Us.  I actually bought the same number of games from the GOG summer sale as Steam's sale: Reus, Banished, Neverwinter Nights and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.
