Arise!

Season 2 is well underway, and nobody is talking about it?  This is now one of my favorite shows.  They are doing a bunch of flashbacky bits, which initially annoyed me but eventually led up to a big ole OMG WTF SURPRISE.

Anyway, highly recommended.  It probably works better when you view several episodes at a time, it helps with the pacing.

The surprise was actually pretty good but it did feel that all the flashbacks were dragging down the otherwise good pacing (better than the first season's anyway).

My sister couldn't make it past the first couple episodes, either, but I still watch it.  I'm fascinated by the ships but mostly I watch it because of that guy's abs and there some bloke who looks like Michael Hutchins.  I never tired of looking at Michael Hutchins.  I never really know exactly what's going on but that's okay too.

Is this worth adding to a queue as a binge show, or do the flaws grate if you watch them in a binge?

I suspect binge is best.  Flaws and hanging plot lines are always more tolerable when you are watching them back to back.  Great show, IMO.

Just finished Season 1 - I like it... but I don't like it. Some good arc but also some WTF moments and not in a good way. It's watchable though.

Overall, I really like a few of the characters. I really dislike a couple as well. And I'm pretty fucking in love with both Max and Eleanor. Even Anna sometimes. And the other big tittied whore. Yum. Oh yeah, and the blond big tittied whore.

Does this have as much gratuitous nudity and violence as Spartacus?

Just finished Season 2, that was really well put together and the shifting alliances really works. I like the very subtle shift from Flint to Silver.

Not as much but what's there is pretty good.

and... it's over for another season. Fantastic ending, I love the development of Silver and I liked the way in which you went from loving Eleanor Guthrie and hating Charles Vane to the reverse. The final battle of the season was great as well although I'd have liked to see more ship time

This show just doesn't get the attention it deserves.  Season ending was great.

Season ends with a huge land and sea battle, best part of the episode still the talkie bits.  Mark of a great show that.

One more episode left. For a show that started off somewhat mediocre (but that I watched anyway because it's not like there are any other shows in the Pirate genre), this has so far been one of the best final seasons of any show that I've watched. Hopefully they stick the landing.

I didn't think it started of mediocre, but it is one of the best things on TV for the past couple seasons.  That samurai has been a background badass since the first episode, wish we had gotten more of a backstory on him.

Maybe mediocre isn't the best world. I haven't gone back and rewatched the show at all but from what I recall of the first season there wasn't much action for a show about pirates and it took a while for things to develop. All the character building payed off in the subsequent seasons, but those first few episodes seemed to be a bit of a slog for a lot of people.

Edit: And yeah, that guy had been present throughout most of the show. I was wondering before the fight if Flint was going to try to reason with him just because he has been part of the crew for so long.
