Dragonborn at least changed from 30% to 50% so down to $9.99 instead of the $13.99 it has been.

At the time, it was still at 30%, but I was just coming back here to point that out. Purchased!

Yah, there definitely was a bit of steam nuttiness for about 15 minutes or so before the price updated.

I'm really interested in Monaco - but don't know how much I would actually play it.

Have you tried the internet? It's made out of millions of people missing the point of everything and then getting angry about it

You really need to play it co-op with friends to get the most out of it from what I hear.

Are people still happy with their Van Helsing purchases?

What is up with Star Conflict? It's F2P, but is it any good? I don't remember hearing anything about it.

So far, very.  With the money I got from selling those stupid cards, I bought it for less than $5.  Its much better than it has any right to be.  If you're into arpg's that are Diablo-like, you could do a lot worse.

I managed decent with a kb/m - but downloaded the Dark Souls mouse fix which smoothed it out a TON.
Seconded.  The roommie made me install this before I even launched.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I just bought it and it is rather like Diablo 2.  I like it.

If Van Helsing didn't have a STUPID license attached to it and it was called like WITCH SMASH or something, people would be all over it and sit around discussing how a tiny dev house made a better Diablo 3 than Diablo 3.

I'm not saying it's anywhere near that quality in terms of raw gameplay, but the Loot and Skill systems are better than D3 and it's certainly better than PoE.

tl;dr: Van Helsing is a tiny indie darling that dreams of being something bigger.

I have to agree.  I absolutely like it better than Diablo 3, which I didn't even bother to play half way through. I love these sorts of games.  I wish I could be a girlie Van Helsing with a hunky man ghost but it's not a game breaker.

Should I buy Saint's Row 2? I've heard the port is awful.

It's not great, but I've played worse.  The one major issue I had was that the game didn't recognize my processor speed and ran at something like double speed, but there was a fan patch that fixed it.  Aside from that, I managed to make it through the game without any problems, though it was a bit janky in some parts.

Other than that, it's less over the top than SR3 (but still pretty crazy compared to, say, GTA4) and a bit less polished.  It's got co-op mode, too, so that's fun.  I'd say it's worth four bucks, but if you've already got SR3 there's really not much that SR2 does better except for more diverse character customization.

Thank you! Almost bought it.

Bought Witcher 2 earlier in the week and holy crap does that run terrible on my system at max settings. I run Skyrim at max with no issues. What gives?

Even with GotR fan patch and tweaking, SR2 still ran like crap for me. Too bad, I was getting hooked into the game itself, but the controls and just the, I dunno, way it ran; sucked.

Have you played Just Cause 2 yet? That's on community choice and awesome.

Don't know.  It always ran somewhat bad for me.  I had to kill a lot of fancy shit and even then some areas were slideshows.  First Witcher had similar issues. You needed a fairly strong system and the visuals just weren't on par with what you needed to get them.

Just a word of warning.  I've heard it's a bad idea to install the combat overhaul mod.  It apparently makes some difficult encounters into impossible ones.

I had issues with Witcher 2 as well. You can turn a lot of advanced detail options down without making it look too shit though.

Picked up DCS: Black Shark yesterday. Wasn't mentioned on the Steam splash page or the specials or Flash sales at all, but I was browsing and saw it was 70% off.

Why didn't any of you assholes tell me that Antichamber is currently the best game of 2013?  Heartbreak This would have been the first day 1 purchase I've made in two years, had I known about it.

I picked it up for 5ish a couple days ago. At $10 right now(50% off), it's still a good deal.

Kentucky Route Zero looks super cool and I totally voted for it.

Antichamber is pretty fun. The Day[9]'s Day Off run of it is more fun. I've been playing a review copy of it for a bit and while I like it, "best game" of 2013 is a little much.

Dead Island seems to be all buggered up for me.  :(  I have 20 games in my whole Steam life and 1 card.  ONE.  I thought that was a lot of games.  I thought wrong.  Geez, you lot have a fuck ton of Steam games!  I guess I fell harder for console games.

It's fun solo too, but is a completely different experience.  I find solo play to feel more puzzle-game-like -- careful planning and execution, and multiplayer to be just crazy mayhem.

Since the sale is winding down, I'll post the list of doom:

FTL: Faster Than Light
Grid 2
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
Dishonored - The Knife Of Dunwall DLC
Might and Magic Heroes VI Gold
Remember Me
Sanctum 2

I showed a lot of restraint this year, only spent $30 because I've got a backlog of console and handheld games to play already.

Civ V Gold
BL2 Krieg DLC
Rogue Legacy
Retro City Rampage

CK2 DLCs (I already had all the dlcs that actually added gameplay elements so just some music and graphics because ck2)
Organ Trail
X-COM+Slingshot DLC
Tropico4+DLCs
FTL

total spent:<30e

Not buying anything that wasn't on sale for more than 50% off worked out fine (especially after spending a bit too much on hex).

Got a little out of hand this year. It's been a while, though; my last big spree was winter 2011.

Rocksmith DLCs
Dishonored
Walking Dead
Dark Souls

Borderlands 2 + DLC
XCom DLC
Fallout: NV DLC
YNAB 4
Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes
Poker Night 2

First batch was what I had planned on buying.

Skyrim - Dragonborn
Fallout NV - all of the DLC
Remember Me
Metro Last Light
Hitman Absolution
Civ V - Brave New World
Defiance

I've discovered a couple things from this. One, buying this many games at once causes me to not want to commit to playing any of them, its quite annoying. And two, I finally found a game in Metro that my current system can't handle.

The Witcher 2 is an extremely detailed game using some rather advanced rendering systems. Its not really comparable to Skyrim on a technical level. Texture resolution alone in both diffuse and normal maps are at least 2x the size of anything in Skyrim. The lighting engine is, insane.

The Witcher 1 ran on a version of BioWare's Aurora Engine.

Under the Ocean
Spec Ops The Line
