I really need to stop reading AC2 as Asheron's Call 2.   Ohhhhh, I see.

Is it me or does that look like a modern Oni?

I have yet to beat Sleeping Dogs, but it's pretty fun with a decent storyline.  It plays much like GTA or Saint's Row but with more focus on hand to hand.  I bought it on Nix's word and don't regret it, and at sales price it's very much worth it.

Greenmangaming's 24hour sale has Borderlands 2 for 50% off, most importantly that includes the season pass for 50% off. Price is $15, then use their 30% off coupon code to bring it down to $10.50 or so

Given the Oni meets Shenmue meets GTA vibe, I nabbed Sleeping Dogs.

I'm really hoping Rocksmith gets a good sale...including DLC because that's what'll murder me. I'll end up grabbing at least a third, if not half, of the DLC. From stuff I know that would be fun to play along with, like the Allmans or Skynyrd to stuff I'd like to learn like Megadeth...lots of good stuff there.

Still holding out for Risen 2 + DLC flash sale, then I'm done for the year.

Really tempted by Sleeping Dogs.

Same, just finished downloading the demo so going to give that a try and see if I am swayed one way or the other.

edit-Demo was short, but for me it felt like it was a hybrid of Saints Row and Uncharted set in Hong Kong. The melee combat really is pretty good, and pretty brutal (in the demo alone I shoved guys into electrical window fans and left them hanging there, as well as holding a guy in a furnace and burning him alive.... Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?), additionally, I enjoyed the little bit of writing and voice acting that I saw in the demo and will pick up the game for now.

If fucking only!

Greenman gaming just issued a statement apologising for the increasing of prices of BL2 and XCom for Aussies:

It was inevitable. They got a longer run because they're lower profile than steam.

Still, it was nice of them to confirm my suspicions as to who is pushing for it,

Quote
“This was done at the request of the publisher based on local retailer feedback. We would rather not have had to do this but we really value the relationship with our publishing partner.”

Australian retail, which is nearly non-existent for PC titles anyway, certainly isn't getting a sale from me again.... not that it was.

Bought myself FTL for linux though, was tempted anyway but it being on linux and 50% off made it a no-brainer.

It's been more than 3 years since I've been into a bricks and mortar shop for PC games. I look forward to the day that EB etc collapse.

AC2 just went up for $5 on the community vote winner.

Did they remove the always online bullshit in the end?

Sleeping Dogs seems to be exactly what I had hoped it would be (a sort of shenmue meets oni). Thanks to everyone who recommended it.

Yes, AFAIK. It's not listed on Steam's information anywhere that there's other DRM on AC2. That's why I picked it up.

Under $18 at Green Man Gaming today.

I think the only Steam sale I've purchased this year was a gift of de-discing Sims 3 for my wife at $10.

I believe they still do a key check at game startup, but the "always online" requirement should be gone.

I was in Seattle at a dinner and completely forgot to get dark souls. I'm sure it'll come around again on a flash sale.

And you didn't invite WAP, Engles or myself?

I was there for 72 hours (not even). I'll be coming back there more often as most of my fiancees family lives there. I ended up going to Card Kingdom and then I was out in the 'burbs the other 2 days for Christmas.

"DCS: A-10C Warthog" has been on my wishlist for a long time and it's only 12.49 euros for the next 5 hours or so  awesome, for real

I understand that it's a hardcore simulation ("hardcore" being an understatement :P), but the amount of nazi comments telling you it's impossible and not enjoyable to play unless you have a super pro joystick, a IR headtracking device and other amenities are quite discouraging  Heartbreak
