Bliz is doing that "we got new stuff to try, so come back and try it for free" thing again.

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/blog/5832064/Former_Player_Try_the_Latest_Patch_Free-12_09_2012

All former players can claim a free week at your leisure.  Come play with us  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

(The above link is for EU.  US should be out in a few hours.)

For Cata I got a free week to try out the new xpac goodies, which helped me make the decision to NOT resub, I wonder if they'll do that again. Playing around with the new talent system and some other 'enhancements' doesn't tickle my fancy as much as trying out the new class..

Well, gotta get those Q3 numbers up I guess... and/or hype ex-players to give pandas a whirl.

Hell, at this point, half of the universe's population must be an ex-wow player -- so even if this thing only gets 0.1% of that crowd to resub, it should be profitable  awesome, for real

Who in their right mind would click on any links in an email that is telling me I get free time in WoW?

That's the problem, though. Its a 7 day tryout of the new patch, but it certainly sounded like there would be no Panda's and no Monk class available. Just the general redesign and I'm guessing they'll let you level beyond 80.99 now.

No pandas available, no interest to even play. My guy is 85, I've done all the raids and dungeons, the only reason I'm gonna log in is to clear my bank a bit and get ready for the patch via addons.

As of 5.04 all races went playable to all. Pandas become available (for everyone) when MOP is released in 2 weeks. From news on www.worldofwarcraft.com dated 8/16/2012.

This. I got the email and assumed it was likely a phishing mail. Visited my battle.net account myself and there was nothing there to allow me to activate the promised free 7 days so I decided it was definitely fake.

If it's actually real then they need to remove the requirement to click on links in emails.

Last night and as of 2 seconds before posting this "requires mists of pandaria" is what pops up when you hover over the greyed out pandarian button.

I'd post the link, but the WoW site is blocked from my work. But like I said, Pandas become available (for everyone) when MOP is released in 2 weeks

Reading is hard.

I posted the date if you want to look it up. So you can look it up, or believe me, or don't believe me. Or you can keep being upset. Works out the same on my end, but I probably won't bother to inform you of a solution next time you have a complaint..  Ohhhhh, I see.

Wow, everyone can roll a pandaren. Even if you don't buy the expansion. That's crazy town.

That means the entire panda starting area has to be available, I'd expect.

What are Blizzard up to? Trying to entice people who've left?

"Hey WoW expats. Whaaat's happening. Hey, remember how we hammered nails through your dicks in Cata? And then you cancelled your subscription? Well, take a look at these here Pandarens! Think you'd maybe like to play one? Just log back into your still-existing account and try one out. Let us know what you think. That'd be great."

Short of actually posting that written apology I'd pined for on the front page, that's exactly what they are doing Hutch. And it's a good idea. They needed to distance themselves as far away from Cataclysm as possible.

I think this is what the D3 folks wish they could do.

Hi guys.  Yeah, we had a really swell model, and we decided skullfucking it was a good idea.  Turns out it leaves you feeling rather raw and chafed, so we've added our patented lubricant, FUN! back into the game.

Let us know how you like it!

Man, I haven't logged into D3 for months. That's just sad.
