Whether you're a battle hardened Presitge Rank 6 veteran or just trying your hand in a Warfront for the first time we're working on a number of changes in Update 1.3 to improve your experience and make PvP compelling, engaging, and fun - regardless if you're just starting out or have memorized the names of every healer in your Wargroup!

It's important that we get your feedback about these changes and it's why over the next three day's we'll be hosting 3 mass PvP play tests.

Join us on the PTS PvP Shard each afternoon starting at 4:30PM PDT (11:30PM GMT) beginning Tuesday, June 14th through Thursday, June 16th, 2011. We'll be checking out the changes to Valor as well as your feedback on the class changes.

We encourage those interested to login to PTS PvP at least an hour early so you have enough time to setup your character, hotkeys, and PvP gear to your preference.

You will be required to create a new character on PTS PvP, existing characters are not able to benefit from the Prestige Rank vendor and would need to manually grind Prestige Rank which is not possible in this time-frame.

An NPC will be available in both Guardian and Defiant tutorials to take you directly to your capital city, merchants are located near the Porticulums in each capital.

Each evening's event will likely run no more than a couple of hours and involve running multiple warfronts as we listen to your feedback and monitor the results of the recent changes. We look forward to your constructive feedback and helping us to thoroughly test these changes on PTS!

We look forward to seeing you there - for more information about how to access the Public Test Shards or discuss the latest changes for 1.3 check out the Public Test Forums!

So the fate of PvP for all classes for the foreseeable future will be based upon approx. 6 hours of random BGs by players who will be twinked out in epic tester gear and have probably never even seen level 50?

It's more like that they are looking for average numbers from abilities and how they react with the new Valor weight system.

Essentially you just need a shit ton of people randomly killing each other int he same environment as the real game.  Then just have a computer vacuum up the data and let the engineers read it.

I hope that the data shows them that dropping crit % and upping mitigation on the general populous will make healing very potent.

Specially since healing already was very potent.

Seriously, as much as I am loving Rift... this announcement is depressing. Approaching fouur months and not a single drop of content has been added to a very dry to the bone PvP gameplay. Kill each other in endless deathmatches based on FOUR maps. Even a shortwitted ant would understand that people need something new. One new warfront map would absolutely NOT be enough, but would be a start.

Again, you might wait and see what the changes hold. Just by looking at the notes we have dominators getting a little love, clerics having their healing rates cut by over 50%, and of course the valor and crit reduction changes. I don't think we will know if these things balance out until it gets on live. My best guess is that healing is indeed powerful, but that clerics run bone dry quickly, especially if dominators or void knights show up again to fill that needed role. The gap closing between R1 and R6 is welcomed and i feel necessary, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I played just a little bit on the test server last night as a mage (lock/chloro/archmage) in r6 gear.

Black Garden is the only available warfront.

In one match, the top 9 damage slots were warriors and mages, but there were only 4 or 5 rogues in the warfront.  Clerics were all healing clerics (who garnered the top healing slots).

The other match, the top 7 damage slots were warriors and mages.

I don't know if people are playing warriors and mages more than rogues and clerics or what.  I didn't really get to play enough to get much information.

I want to try the r1-r2 set and see how the valor changes work.

Scratch that - I read the valor changes were rolled back.
