Is it just me, or is Black Widow actually terrible?

I've leveled 3 other chars during this event (Doom 1-60, Scarlet Witch 3x-60, Captain America 18-52 so far) and all of them seemed pretty powerful.  Captain America seems actually fun!

Black Widow I leveled from 4x-60, and it was painful the entire way.   Ohhhhh, I see.
This is far from perfect and has not been updated in 6 months (Deadpool, Daredevil, and Emma have all been updated in game so much better) but it gives an idea on ranking for characters. The 3 you mention as good are in top 10 while Black Window is in bottom 10 (after move 3 I mentioned up near top).

Human Torch seems reasonably easy to level, but he doesn't seem to actually do any worthwhile damage when it comes to bosses.

Human Torch has the lowest health and damage reduction of my 13 level 60s. Offense is middle.

I brought out Punisher to see if he was any more interesting.  Nope, ammo gimmick is still stupid.

Next up on the level train:  Jean Gray!

I really like mental Jean, but she doesn't really come together until 48 or whenever it is that you can pick her specializations. When you can, her long CDs move to 4 seconds and I really like that flow.

Pretty much any version of Jean Grey is stupid powerful really.

I'm using an all 'area' phoenix build for shits and giggles and it still smoked the trial with minutes to spare on each wave. Stupid tanky, stupid damage.

I thought about it, and realized this is probably my best opportunity to level Punisher for at least a little while.  Almost 59!

He's not actually that bad, once you tool around with him a bit.  It does seem he has a bunch of redundant abilities, but I guess that's true of most any char really.

Plus leveling right now is
- Find out which zone has Odin's Bounty
- Run around between boss fights and pick up chests
- Open chests
- DING!

I do wish I could buy more hero tickets with cake slices though.  I'm not even sure what the heck to buy at this point.

After you get all the single purchase items just get more cakes, even if the legendary you get isn't what you need, its 800 odin marks in the bank.

There's a really good deal on a hero bundle on steam currently.

Captain America and Iron Man, plus their Civil War Costumes, plus their stash tabs, for 2.50. I think that's uhh, 90% off  why so serious?

Unrelated, Elektra is fucking hilarious for the cosmic trial. She's pretty strong in general, but her instant kill elite executes work on the hulk busters and stark sentinels and all that, which just utterly trivializes the entire thing.  why so serious?

I might go for that, even though I already have cap.

Finished Punisher, started Jean.

I swear she's going up 5 levels every 10 minutes or so.  Mostly because of the event, mind you.

Plus with all the loot dropping, leveling the pet to max is hilariously easy.

Already have Iron Man to 42.   awesome, for real  I swear it took half an hour.  (Probably really an hour, but still - ludicrously fast.)

Some how I missed the two new terminals. They are both mildly entertaining and short. The skrull one is the significantly easier of the two. The Ultron one is rather rough. There is a lot of ranged trash that hits fast and hard.

Not sure if the leveling experience during the anniversary event is really emblematic of how Ultron does, but my experience has been pleasant going to summoner route. Again too many of the really core powers are deep in the tree, wtf with having the "Pets attack here" ability show up at 47, but otherwise he's good. His basic ranged spender is a nice AoE column.

Moon Knight and a terrible Cable costume.  Ohhhhh, I see.

On the other hand it made me log in and level Ultron, who I quite liked.

I just started playing this game because of the persistence of this thread.  I started with the Invisible Woman and got Loki from the free hero box.  The pacing of the new player experience seems crazy; I feel incredibly overpowered, and you get xp so fast that flying to each quest marker and ignoring all the side quests seems to be the right move, and it seems like ignoring the campaign entirely would be even better (but I feel like I should do it once?)  The loot system is very confusing because there are so many different vendors; I read that I should be selling items to the crafter, so that's what I'm doing.  I guess I'm wondering if the balance is such that every hero can kill everything except bosses with one aoe ability that covers the whole screen at level 8 (and still at level 20,) or if I just got lucky with drops.

I got Jean Grey who was going to be my next splinter bought hero so really happy. Got a Luke Cage costume who is not unlocked and I have no plans to get. On other hand have not really played after the anniversary month because over played during that time.

Job601, every hero you want to do certain of the story quests to get the permanent health, "mana", and skill point unlocks. Generally just find a leveling guide to tell you which story quests to do in each chapter. Hope you mean donating to the crafter not selling to them. They have an "exp bar" that increases and get more recipes when leveled.

Well, with the Dynamic Combat thing, it turns out that story mode is an Omega farm of stunning proportions. Going through with my Thing I've gotten something like 20 points in the first chapter.

Dynamic Combat Scaling

IE, everyone is semi scaled. Electro no longer dies instantly on spawn. He now lasts maybe 20 seconds.

Everything is scalled, including XP. No more 1 XP bubbles in low level areas.
