I think a lot of older gamers remember the first time they bought a big retail box of air and a CD.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

What Rasix said. I am now in the stage of buying old games off Steam or GoG just so I can ditch my boxed copies.

I do the same, kinda. I don't plan to ditch my boxed copies, but when I make my next (and hopefully last) move into a much(!) bigger place I plan to have my boxes on a shelf, in the same way you have a bookshelf filled with books you've already read. Of course, most of those these days are DVD cases, since I ditched 95% of my big card boxes years ago.

I broke mine down and laid them flat in a box with this exact plan in mind. Somewhere in my storage unit is a 36x18x18 box filled entirely with old computer game boxes stored in this manner that I'm probably just going to throw out when we move.  It seems silly, now.

My friend and I used to judge games by the weight of the package- if it was hefty, it had a big ass manual and was more likely to be interesting.

Hah, this is true, I used to do that too.  If I picked up the box and it was very light it kind of gave me the idea it might not be all that interesting cause it didn't require a 200 page manual to explain how to play.
