I think he's talking about pre-HD consoles and arcade games. And many console games still only do 30 fps, which is how things like the Mafia III thing happen.

What we played for decades? Before 3D most games were 60 FPS.
With the caveat that stuff had maybe 4 frames for the walk cycle and 2-3 for fighting animations, if you were lucky. Which dragged the overall impression of frame rate down somewhat fierce.

So, talk of a Red Dead Redemption 2. Chances it will be on PC? Will the supposedly unified Win10/Scorpio thing help or will it be a PS4 only eff you?

If it's not on PC the howls of outrage will usher in a new dark age.

They make so much money from GTAO I would be surprised if they skip any of the platforms. I hope the game isn't too far off; nothing worse than having to wait 2 more years to launch.

It was worth the wait for GTA V, I don't mind as long as it happens :)

I don't care very much about a RDR 2. The original Rock Star San Diego Crew doesn't exist anymore. The executive responsible for actually making sure that Rock Star games actually ship at some point and have somewhat coherent plot and gameplay mechanics is no longer with the company. I don't have much faith in the Hauser Brothers' ability to write something that is entertaining and meaningful and not just high school level glibness and cynicism and is not littered with despicable scum protagonists..

It will also be littered with online elements and microtransactions.

Also according to the announcement by Rockstar XBox One and PS 4 only. I don't know if that means that the PC Version will come later (like GTA V)

Meh. Announcing something a year in advance is silly. Invariably it will be more like 18-24 months because most games announced this far out get pushed out.

Also, no PC announcement? The two primary things I was 99% sure they wouldn't do, they actually did.

I can't be the only person that doesn't give a single fuck about voice actors in gaming. This whole thing strikes me as ridiculous. Strikes like this are ONE HUNDRED percent about wanting more money. Unfortunately the value of voice acting in games is a question mark on the whole. And omg, residuals. Fuck. As if I needed another reason to hate Wil Wheaton.

VAs don't tend to get paid a lot unless they're legit celebs.

However, I'd say they're less abused than the people who actually make the rest of the game. I doubt VAs do 80 hour weeks.

Yeah, honestly this kind of pisses me off.  If VAs want to tighten the thumbscrews and wring EA or Activision for money, it's the cubicle monkeys working 16 hour days because they love the industry who are going to be paying for it, and I can't help but think that they get shit on enough already.  Because you know if programmers or artists tried this they'd be on the street with a replacement sitting in their chair before they finished the sentence, because who gives a shit about them.  The only reason the VAs are even trying this is based on the fact that they are the closest thing Video Games have to "Star Power" and how much the industry wants to be Hollywood... and honestly, screw that.

On the other hand, if people who jabber words into a microphone for a living can get organized and stand up for themselves against corporate oppressors, what excuse do the dumb fucks programming games have for letting themselves be abused by a completely known and understood system?

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

They don't have a signature impact on the final product.  Without looking at the credits, I can't tell if Bob Smith or Jane Doe had anything to do with the programming, but I notice when Cam Clarke's voice comes out of my speakers.  That makes it way easier to swap programmers than VAs without anyone noticing.

Not that that's stopped devs from doing that before anyways, of course (why yes, I am playing through Metal Gear Solid 5 now, how did you guess)

I just replaced my N3DS c-stick with a psp analog stick and it's amazing.

That stupid nub is terrible and Nintendo should be ashamed.  This PSP stick makes it sooo much easier to control the camera in Monster Hunter.  It's a night and day difference.

I've played the tutorial awesome, for real

I'll let you know after I've played a few real games. After I finished the tutorial all the games were either yellow or red to me so I didn't try to join.

Edit: or not, since the Beta is over, have to wait a week now to play again

You know, Red Dead Redemption 2 is gonna feel pretty weird after watching Westworld. There's no question in my mind that the people making the show played RDR 1.

IIRC, they actually listed that game as one of the games that they "researched" to get the tone of the show right.

Wait which game? Dreadnought?

I actually won a Mercenary pack for that game, Dreadnought, and it was ok for a few tries at arena combat with giant ships. If you're looking for something deeper than just arena battles and ship customization tho, I really can't recommend it because the combat is kinda dominated by higher levels, the matchmaking was broken badly (long load times for unbalanced teams with leveled people mixed with novices) and not a whole load of variety.

If there was another game you meant, then disregard this message.

The Legend of Grimrock 2 is on sale for $8.19 at GOG.  You can get Grimrock 1 for a fiver if you don't have it, too.  I read that 2 is better than one... just like with cats.  And boobies.
