CS:GO has 4m sales on the first chart, but is absent from the 2nd chart where it should be in first. Why?

I think the second chart is games released in 2015. Arma 3 is absent in the second chart for the same reason.

So I guess Quantum break is a giant clusterfuck.

My friend bought it for the XBO.  He was really enjoying it until he got stuck in one spot of the game, where 15 minutes after the save point the game just doesn't allow him to move (enemies are firing at him, he's invincible, but he can't move or anything).  Frustratingly he resets the game and tries again, 15 minutes later in the same spot same thing happens.  Tries it one more time and again.

Goes to forums, tons of people are bitching about this with no resolution.  A few days ago a Remedy entertainment dev responded saying they can't reproduce this but try the latest patch and maybe that will fix it (it doesn't).

My friend said screw it, went back to gamestop with the forums printed out in hand to start a fight if they refuse to take the game back (since it's obviously opened).  Gets to the store and the gamestop guy doesn't put up a fight saying they've been getting a ton of them returned due to buggyness and issues.  Gave him money back to his CC (not even credit).

That's not even counting all the crap it's been getting about the PC version too.

Wow. That is a blast from the past.

And yeah, I was certain that it had been cancelled years ago.

Is White Wolf a separate thing again, or are they still owned by CCP?

I randomly came across the cancelled Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun.

Since it was said it was cancelled due to it not being ready, and supposedly cancelled right after motion capture an casting, I was very surprised to find 32 minutes of gameplay footage that looks extremely polished and well done.  It didn't seem to have any placeholder art, and if it didn't say it was cancelled in the title I would think I was looking at a completed game.

Also interesting that Phsyonix (the guys that made rocket league) were making the (now also cancelled) multiplayer game around it.

Yeah, someone on GAF posted a huge retrospective on Legacy of Kain a couple years ago, and that was one of the things shown.

As an amusing aside, it turns out that the original Legacy of Kain, one of the shockingly few games Silicon Knights actually released, still had to have a lot of work done on it by Crystal Dynamics to get it finished, because SK was shite at actually getting things done even back then.

A genuine mystery at the completion of their two good games.  The other one being Eternal Darkness.

Just bought a "New" 3ds  XL (seriously, what the fuck Nintendo) finally deciding to replace my decade old NDS.

Holy shit the 3d effect makes my eyes hurt....

*Edit* Also fuck Nintendo for not including an AC adapter with a proprietary port.  Got home, started playing, realized I needed to go back out to Gamestop to buy an adapter so I could actually provide power to it.

You can adjust the depth effect with the slider on the edge of the screen which can help. It also takes some practice to learn the best viewing angle(s) for your eyes. And the new 3DS's 3D effect is better than the original one's (the sweet spot is larger). But yeah it's not something most people can look at for long periods of times. I leave in 2D mode almost all the time myself.

I play exclusively in 2D; getting the angle perfect is too much work, plus 3D kills the battery.

I used the 3D a lot on the 3DS, but I mostly stopped because it kills image quality and frame rate, and I was playing a lot of games in which the 3D didn't matter all that much.

In the end I'd rather play a 2D game than a 3D game that looks more pixelated, basically. It never hurt my eyes though, and on the N3DS the effect is pretty stable.

I'll turn on the 3D long enough to marvel at how cool it is in most games, then turn it off for that game forever.

It's often pretty, and amazing, if you can line it up just right.  Otherwise, eh.

As for the no charger, yeah, that's really annoying.  But now you can play Xenoblade!

The newest 3DS, which i think is the .. new XL with the right nub stick actually doesn't have a 3d sweet spot anymore.

It uses the front facing camera to figure out where your eyes are and dynamically adjusts the 3d effects based on that!

I couldn't use the 3d effects at all on the previous versions for the reasons mentioned above, but I can actually use 3d all the time with the latest version of the hardware.

Indeed.  Although I do enjoy aspects of X (ugg, the story) and XIII (only takes 40 hours to get past the really bad parts  awesome, for real).  And FFXIV is a MMO, so that doesn't count (even if it does have a fully fleshed out story).

Plus, this has improvements! Whatever they are.

Interesting that this franchise hasn't produced a truly outstanding game in 22 years.

I thought XII was outstanding. It was a decade ago. But one game in 22 years is a TERRIBLE TRACK RECORD.

It's been a while, but I just don't remember it as outstanding. I do remember it being the FF version of Star Wars, which made for a less shitty and more coherent plot than what you're likely to get out of FF nowadays.

Some of the characters were really grating, although I suppose that's expected in any FF since voice acting was introduced.

Honestly can't even remember the plot. I just liked the bounty system and actual gameplay enough to call it outstanding.

From NeoGAF:

Quote
-based on FINAL FANTASY XII INTERNATIONAL ZODIAC JOB SYSTEM
-Background, character model, fonts and all 2D parts are higher resolution
-Movie scenes are higher resolution
-Uses current-gen graphics tech
-7.1 surround sound
-higher quality audio
-Japanese and English voice
-Option between original BGM and newly recorded BGM
-shorter loading time
-auto-save feature
-turbo mode

The higher quality sound, newly recorded music, and the ZODIAC job system ALMOST make me want to get a PS4 for this on day 1 release, in case they don't port it to PC. Seeing as how every FF is on PC now, I think I can bide my time long enough to wait. But it's exciting news nonetheless.
