I assume all this means the f13 server is up ? I recieved the ip a few days ago but have only tried it now after then new patch was ready. But 'connection refused: connect' is all I get though. There is an apache server working on that ip for what it's worth, so I have no idea what could be wrong on my side.

Make sure you are putting the custom port after the IP i.e. X.X.X.X:XXXXX

EDIT: Took out the port number. Didn't know how super secret it is supposed to be.

Ah, wasn't aware of that. It's working now, thanks.

I moved about 2 landmasses to the east, installed myself in a mountain, working on something near a lake soon.

I will start carving out the foundation for the F13 Football Arena this evening. I plan on heading North until I find some place suitable.

I chose the completely wrong continent to build on. It felt like I was cutting down the Amazon Rainforest, just a mass of trees at the top of the hill my castle is in.

I just found the biggest mountain I could find, went to the top and started digging down in a spiral.  I have no idea where it is.

I have had success with furnaces with this procedure:
1. open furnace
2. put 8n source material in the hopper
3. put n coal in the burner
4. close furnace
5. once fire animation stops, open furnace
6. remove final material

I've smelted 300-400 blocks now with no loss.

Oh well, at least a bunch of the map will be uncovered.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Thanks Bzalthek and Vaiti for helping me link up the Western Highway/Tunnel. Had a great time co-op building ... I literally cheered when Bzal and I broke through the final blocks and the tunnel was perfectly aligned.

I'm so addicted to this game. Creating is just fun.

I broke ground on the football field on a large tract of land to the north, across the ice, past the big castle, over the lakes.

Western Highway keeps going and going, and then I finally just ran off into the sunset, and then another sunset, and on noon the next day I found my continent!

I've extended the Eastern Highway with a long bridge. It happens to pass nicely by a large sea monster I've created before, so I'll just pretend it was all planned like that.

In for another day of Lewis-n-Clark'ing about the map trying to find my lost island.

Lost island... thats how I feel right now... like I'm on the show Lost, trying to get back to my island.  =)

I am planning on using unannounced landmarks at first, then quietly erecting a haphazard wall of cobblestone, followed by a moat filled with lava.

So the Mordor Technique?

Starting off with Isengard, Mordor comes later since I'm actually going to use the lava to make obsidian first.  Unless I get bored.

Sun sets in the west, yeah? Ohhhhh, I see.

I started digging into a mountain that is not too far east of spawn right along the east highway.  I actually didn't even realized I was that close to the road at first, but I think I am going to turn it into to a little outpost and mine before heading out again, probably take me a week or so given my limited playtime at the moment.  There is a side path from the road that you'll see that you can take if anyone else wants to build or modify what I'm doing it.

Basically, I'm just saying that while I'm working there, I don't stake any "claim" on it.

This was my first real day of smp and I had an unhealty amount of fun with it. It's weird how much gameplay is different if you know you're not alone in that world. In single play I would not even care to make a 1x6 road for myself, but with multiplayer I've spent hours and hours making parts of the Eastern Highway. It's still nowhere as long as the western one, but I'm happy with what I added : 2 long stone bridges, a tunnel, another bridge, a long grass road, and some more cool highway-like stuff after that.

Tomorrow : more highway.

I've started the northern road, but had to stop due to a shortage of cobblestone.

The Motte of my Motte and Bailey is probably about 50-75% done, depending on if I want to tear down the stone keep and replace it with a wooden one. Other than that, I need to finish up the palisade and do some landscaping.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Would someone mind making a plaza or something at spawn to connect the various roads? Right now it's just sand, might want to spruce it up a bit!

I'm planning on doing a lil something like that this afternoon!

Edit: I made a start of it.  I need some buckets of lava and I'll work on the rest this afternoon.

I tried it myself, but I think the spawn is protected.

Me and Geist and Vaiti hugely expanded the northern road, it goes quite a way now.

Yeah, there is a small radius directly around the spawn point on which you can't build.

I finally got around to trying this at the weekend, is there some instructions somewhere (the tutorial was greyed out for me for some reason) as all I managed to do with kill sheep, pigs, horses and flowers and then used whatever I got from the sheep to place some blocks.

Wasn't able to dig out any ground but I did chop the leaves off some trees (which didnt give me anything) and failed utterly to chop a tree down with my bare hand

There's a pretty helpful wiki, the block list and the crafting recipes are especially useful: www.minecraftwiki.net

You have to hold down the left mouse button while you wail away on whatever you're trying to break until it pops, or you accomplish nothing.  Damage to blocks doesn't persist.

It's current as of the 6th in the morning.

Also, there's no such thing as a Zelda feeling when the monsters stutter in one spot.

I updated the OP with links/videos and cleaned up some stuff. If there's anything that should be added, let me know.

Ok thanks, I started about mid day Saturday so yeah.

I should have said "I hope monsters are fixed soon because I sorely miss them in multi-player and miss that Zelda feel".

As far as I remember : it does look like the exact same image that was there last week, when your 'last edit' was from 03 november or something like that. I'm hardly recognizing anything I saw when I joined on the 5th. And the link to the full version is not working for me. So I guess what we are seeing is still old stuff.

The small image hasn't been updated as I haven't had the chance to head home and modify it. As for the big one not showing, I think this is Dropbox not being able to serve up a 60 meg PNG file. I'll shrink it down.
