Well, this all seems like good news, except that I have to wait till Friday because of Euro-fagginess.

One of the reviews said that the Scientist was actually kickass in Multiplayer, but learning the combos are almost vital.

How does the controlling on the PC work ?

Very smoothly I thought. Standard FPS stuff; WASD movement, mouse to look around, etc.

GoGamer has the PC version on sale for $30. Haw-haw to console gamers and Steam customers, I guess.

I award the devs massive bonus points for getting Stan Bush to do their credits music.

Myself and a friend bought it on Steam. Played a up through chapter 2 last night. The game is decent. The difficulty curve is a bit odd up through chapter 2. It was like I could basically walk through the level blasting everything in sight, then I would get to one encounter, and die like 4 or 5 times before passing it, and then go back to easily walking through encounters.

Unlike Noisy, I enjoyed the boss for Chapter 2. I thought it was fun.

I haven't had a chance to play the multiplayer yet, but I hear thats where the game really shines. If anyone buys it on Steam and wants to coop, just hit me up. I love playing coop. /poke schild.

The Rude Awakening Of Optimus Prime still makes me laugh.  Has some swearing so NSFW, but hearing Optimus swear is what makes it so funny.

Looks like I'm going to have to find a PS3 copy.  Color me surprised.

Are they using GameSpy for matchmaking/online (like a lot of PS3 titles)?  If so, that would mirror my experience with GameSpy on PS3 for a lot of games.  :/

I don't remember seeing any GameSpy logos anywhere in the game, so I'm pretty sure it's not using it.  Likely a hand rolled solution, which was busy shitting the bed, since they only did the online beta for the Xbox version.  I'm sure it'll be fixed sooner than later, but it was annoying last night.  It did however push me into playing up through chapter 2 and the awesomeness that is Starscream and his cronies.

Storm or anyone else who bought it from gogamer.com able to answer if they could apply it to their Steam library? While doubtful, I'm sold if so.

It's in the mail. I can let you know when it gets here, but by then the sale might be over.

Okay, the online seemed a lot more stable last night on PS3.  Got a bunch of team deathmatch games in, an had an absolute blast.  As far as online FPS goes, it's more of the same, but with Transformers, but the actual transforming bit actually adds a lot for me, especially the jets.  No one class seems completely overpowered so far, but I didn't see anyone over level 10 yet.  Did fairly well with all 4, even the scientist, once I got a better hang on flying and how to drop in and out of combat and be a dick with turrets.

Still haven't gotten back to the single player though, really should though, the adventures of Starscream and friends was entertaining.

Watching that video makes it clear what they mean about 'floaty' vehicle forms.  Hmmm.

The sequel needs burning rubber.

Still looks mega cool though;  was that a wee empty desperately crawling for his life at the end ?  I wish to hit it with a fusion cannon.

So apparently this is now out to buy in the UK... unless you want to buy it online/download  swamp poop Means I'll actually have to go to a shop  ACK!

What is the goddamn problem with UK digital distribution? Not the first time something's been yanked from steam shortly before release and there's no indication of when it'll be available. Anyone got any info as to the reason behind this?

How does the controlling on the PC work ?

I picked it up on PC, will probably end up with a ps3 version as well due to split friends, but for the controls I only have 2 complaints (small ones after getting used to them):
1) Can't change controls, only 1 setup allows. So more than 3 button mice aren't used fully used here and being stuck with certain abilities locked into ctrl/shift instead of a more comfortable mouse 4/5 Ohhhhh, I see.
2) Minor showings of consolitis such as you must use small arrows to toggle options instead of drop boxed or using keyboard arrows, esc pauses but doesn't unpause. Nothing major.

The game so far is very good. I'm still in chapter one with Megatron and have enjoyed it the entire time.

Edit: for some reason esc wasn't working to unpause, but now it is. Keyboard is old so that's probably all it was.

We're up to about chapter 3 for Autobots and Decepticons. The story (rightfully) isn't so intricate that you can't jump around and still follow it.

The Soundwave fight is awesome.
The Seeker sequence where the three jets are ripping on each other made us laugh.
In fact, I'd say the voice acting is what really makes this game come alive in single player/co-op.

Oh, the huge Autobot tank fight was great. Sly was playing Breakdown and kept his attention while I with Soundwave and AI Megatron blew his backpack up. Hella fun.

Finished up the Decepticon story, and man the last two chapters are pretty epic.  I hear the last two autobot ones follow the same vein.  You guys are in for some fun.

Been playing a ton of team deathmatch also, and absolutely wrecking people with soldier and leader.  For a while, i thought scientists and scouts were going to reign supreme, but man, if they screw up, they're such easy kills I don't even have words to describe it.  The only map they're a massive pain on is that big open one with the elevator structure in the middle.  Way too easy to snipe and fly around to the other side there without being seen.  Other than that, loving it so far, which feels really odd for me to say since I haven't really been down with an online fps in a long long time.

The last autobot  chapters are pretty insane, and the end boss was a bitch until I finally figured it out. For me, it was harder than the end chapter for Decepticons.

As for the multiplayer, I agree completely. Soldier/Leader seems to be much better due to their higher health and whirlwind is pretty damn good in multiplayer, but a higher level scientist who knows exactly what to do can absolutely destroy someone.

I have this and dipped my toe into multiplayer.  It's a case of 'Transform and get sniped by that lame camping faggot over there'.  Ouchie.

Fun so far tho.

Getting the 30 seconds alive and then the 60 seconds alive xp bonuses was nice.   Ohhhhh, I see.

It's definitely fast paced, I know I've had some games where I was surprised to live for more than 20 seconds or so. Though the respawn being very fast is nice and the maps aren't large enough to take long to get back in the action. The best part, imo, no voice or chat that I've seen yet. Meaning no shitty community to ruin what is a pretty good game.

I think the Kill Streak bonuses will remain like the Ark or the Grail for me;  A myth I won't ever attain.

It's really quite fun tho.

Almost done with single player. Aerialbots versus Trypticon fight was cool. The hard part was getting past the big fights with lots of Cons running around. Those get manic, even on medium difficulty. Sly and I are just slamming deaths at them until we get past it. Trypticon himself was an easy rail-shooter sequence, but we're not at the very final fight yet. Just completed the part where he crashes to Cybertron.

I've tinkered around with Escalation, seems fun. The AI is either pretty good or completely dumb. I've finished a round by shooting some dumb Con whose just jumping against a wall.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Multiplayer is literally a blast.  Awesome fun.

This game is almost everything I thought it could be.  Even the things that aren't quite right don't really detract too much from the sheer enjoyment.

Thanks Storm for the feedback, though I ended up just buying Steam's version anyways since they were out of stock on gogamer when I went to order.

Sadly no, no combination transformations were done :( It's Air Raid, Silver Bolt, and Jetfire for the 3 flying bots. That said, anyone who was a fan of Transformers has no right to not buy this game, they did it incredibly well. I was prepared for a raping of childhood memories only to be very pleasantly surprised.

Also, I can't play enough conquest mode in multiplayer, damn that is well done. Pretty well balanced as well even between low levels and level 20+ characters.

Hmm, Ironwood hates everything, but he likes this one, so color me tempted.

Serious question:  I've no real interest in Transformers, since I wasn't exposed to them at an early age. If you have no love (or hate) for Transformers, would this game still be rated as 'great', or does it sorta require an attachment to the series?

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe
