Kept waiting for him to shoot the kids all video, but no pay off.  Highly distracting.

Meh, I'm skipping Slayer. I've seen them enough, at better times.

I wish I could find shows letting out before 9. Goddamned Ghost doesn't go ON until 9. Should be epic, tho.

free ticket, lots of friends going, and 20 min drive from home... otherwise right there with you.

I missed the Eurovision Songcontest (again)  Heartbreak

The top 3:

1) Isreal - Netta - Toy Very WTF.

2) Cyprus - Eleni Foureia - Fuego Harmless

3) Austria - Cesár Sampson - Nobody But You - Apperently this genre is called Pop Gospel, song is good, also a real black guy born in my home town. The times we live in!  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly? why so serious?

Quote from: "Wikipedia
Cesár Sampson (born 18 August 1983) is an Austrian singer, songwriter, producer, dancer and model. He was also a social worker and fitness teacher. He represented Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Nobody but You", winning the jury vote and finishing in third place after the televote.

Sampson was born in Linz, Austria. His father is a pilates master teacher and introduced pilates in the German-speaking countries. Cesár himself became a personal trainer and strength and mobility coach in pilates. His mother was a singer and songwriter most famous for co-writing and performing the theme song of the popular Austrian TV series Inspector Rex (in German Kommissar Rex). Helen "Pepsi" DeMacque one half of the singing duo Pepsi & Shirlie is his aunt.

At the age of seventeen, he started touring locally and internationally. He was a backing singer on Austrian version of Dancing With the Stars. He worked for many years as a social worker. At age 20, he worked as a physical therapist, and in particular, worked with people with disabilities and handicaps. Cesár Sampson has done modeling, and is signed to a Slovakian model agency.

4) Germany - Awwww, so close! - Maybe next time guys!

Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic!

great show, Behemoth was terrific and happened to play my favorite song by them from an album 15? years old.  Slayer was slayer... great people watching... man the people who show up for a slayer show... The Meth runs strong in their fanbase.

One of my favorite things about good musicians is watching them grow over time. That dude is legit - check out his roots (Gord Downie is on a track for that album). I remember literally finding this tune on MySpace a long flipping time ago.

Nice! My favorite local band put one out this year, too. Going to see them play tomorrow, they don't do many shows and it's at a place with great beer, so it should be a good'un.

Instrumental group, they tend to stretch out a lot more on the second half of their albums.

I generally hate classic rock, but this is great.  You can see Steve Porcaro dance around like a crazy man and wonder what he's actually playing.

I've been listening to Kamikaze and yes, it is absolutely incredible. Was Killshot just something he released on the Internet?

Also, I guess it's progress that we've gone from rappers hire people to kill other rappers over beefs to rappers having Internet retard slapfights on Youtube over beefs.

What the fuck?  Their needs to be some kind of service that predicts exactly which kind of music my brain likes and then gets you people to post about it here.  Never heard of High on Fire before.  Of course, it will probably turn out I will like the song you linked and subsequently dislike everything else.

I'm guessing that's a tribute to Lemmy? It was ok, I guess. I have Surrounded by Thieves, which is decent. But I never really spin it when I want to get my metal on. Too reminiscent of the glut of trashy metal bands in the early-mid 80s (Sodom, Bathory, Venom, etc).

I sorta like it, but the recording quality of their album is terrible.  It is 2018 fer chrissakes.

That's the "stoner rock" guitar tone now. Sounds like it's run through a shitton of compressors.

Which is stupid. If 1985 can do a better sounding guitar and overall record, there's no excuse for modern bands to make their records sound like crap. No matter how "KVLT" it is to do so...

Pike was at the forefront of stoner/doom rock. I mean, if it's not your bag that's cool but over the past 25+ years the guy helped to evolve the sound started from the 70s bands. I have major respect for him.

I don't know if that is what it is or not, but the whole thing sounds muddy.  The whole idea of recording this kind of music and then deliberately sucking the energy out of it...makes no sense.  I get that it might appeal to whatever stoner segment you are referring to, but that just alienates the other 90% who might otherwise really dig this.

Some of these tracks would be great, if they weren't so shittily mastered.  Instead, they are wet bags of poop.  But whatever.  They probably don't like money.

I guess in the Iron and Wine vein? have a bout 4 of his albums on amazon music that I have been listening to non stop.  The right music for me at this time, mellow male vocal stuff.  I am sure it is big with the hipsters but it doesn't reek of Temple coffee and tight jeans to me....  Get off my lawn!

Been pulling an all-weekender to wrap up a big project.

Mastodon's Emperor of Sand is just completely amazing. Their best album, so much of everything, and the production is amazing. Layers on top of layers under other layers.

I've also decided Once More Round the Sun is fighting Crack the Skye for my second favorite. Less thematic and not as strong as a whole, but goddammit there are some real gems on it, Ember City is for realz.
