Yeah. I'm kind of speechless.

As for overrated - the Beatles were the most overrated band of all times. The Stones weren't overrated but I wouldn't put them top of the list. Zeppelin overrated? The fuck? The composition alone on some of those songs puts them leaps and bounds over the Stones. And the fucking Stooges? Really? Talk about over-fucking-rated. You say they spawned a genre of music then forget about King Crimson who spawned the progressive generation? Pink Floyd overrated?

Either you are smoking something you should stop smoking, or you aren't smoking enough of it.

If he were smoking anything good, he wouldn't be dissing Led Zeppelin.  :p  My taste in music isn't very mainstream, either,  but I love Zeppelin (at least some of it) and some progressive rock, although it's not something I'm immersed in.  Oh, and I  The Stooges.  AND Iggy...  .  (whose performances, I might add, were heavily influenced by Jim Morrison although at least Iggy dove from the stage into the crowd and didn't just fall off the stage into the crowd) 

Let's not have a progressive rock fight though.  I've seen those.  They can be uglier than those PC/MAC arguments.

I don't do top ten lists. I can't choose like that, so much is dependent on mood or location, not to mention place in time (something that was amazing but maybe didn't stand the test of time, or not so amazing but did). Top ten over ten years, especially some of the golden age of recorded music? Crazy talk.

How can you pick between James Brown and Muddy Waters? Hell, half your lists were just Muddy filtered through psychedelics and Mud's protege Buddy Guy is the act Hendrix ripped off (and later SRV). Can you put Christopher Parkening on the list or take him off to make room for Albert King? Aretha or Janis or Ella or Etta? And it reaches far enough back to wonder if there's room for Elvis or Sinatra or Chuck Berry. Hell, Basie was active through there as was Calloway, even if their best was behind them. Can Otis Redding or the MGs get on the list? I'd say Willie, Merle, Waylon and the boys peaked a bit later, but how about Cash or Loretta? The Yardbirds, they were so hot for the time.

It's got a 9 minute musical documentary of Giorgio Moroder's life on it. And a showtune written for a Muppet by ELO and Pink Floyd. And James Bond and Michael McDonald on a robot love-yacht.

Buuut no one here cares. Back to arguing over dinosaurs it is, then.

Speaking of fossils, just saw the Crue last night. Totally rocking, badass show. I really wanted to see them while Mick can still stand through a show. For the outro and stage bow, he just went over and sat on an amp, I had a feeling they play until he calls it.

My fiancee is lucky I'm a faithful and trustworthy mate, I had attractive middle aged women all over me most of the night. Pretty flattering after all these years :) I did feel bad for my buddy, he's shy and would've definitely scored as a wingman.

...if most of the above were still making music at all, it would probably be more ironic. Also, I'm not the one engaging in the last 2 pages of /mu/tardish 'X 70s fratboy favourite has aged less disgracefully than X 70s fratboy favourite' arguments. I'm simply saying you're all mental. 

Anyway. While I'm here, alongside my love for French House Robots remaking the 70s and 80s in their own image, I am also mad for Boards of Canada. Their new album is coming out in a couple of weeks. This new Daft Punk album. I'm just not feeling it. Halfway in and it feels like a epic love poem to disco. DISCO. I... just... no.

It's not bad, per se, but it totally leaves me cold.

Let's face it, disco is really not that different from a lot of pop music that came after it. I don't have a problem with disco, just don't feel like an homage was necessary or interesting, at least not this way.

I just downloaded everything I didn't have and always wanted by Duane Peters.  There really isn't much and it's not very expensive.  He's not prolific.  Probably because he's mostly stoned, I guess.  I hope to see him live someday before either of us dies.  I love Duane Peters.  I think I might have posted this once before (who can remember... aren't we all just a little Bloodsworthy),  but it's my fav Duane video and it's awesome that Matt Hensley is there too.

There's a lot of bad polka out there, folks just going through the motions like a wedding band. But you get a hot polka band and a barrel of beer, and that's a fucking good time. I love a good polka band. I used to work with a bartender who shredded on the accordion (another instrument that gets a bad rap from shitty players).
