Today is the last day for shadowbane's new expansions beta and the developers are maxing out everyones char and giving them gold to train. They are going to have a huge war later in the day.

I'm on now and there's like 200 people all running around in the same city. It is insane. If you ever played sb and liked it you should come check it out.

Anyone that has an sb account has instant access to it.

Follow these instructions at this link to upload beta:

When you get in pledge to the city of payne, run to the north side and you'll see like a 100 people circled around ashen, he is buffing everyone up to level 100 and giving out millions of gold for them to train.

As fun as that sounds, I'm never reinstalling that game.

Oh, and taking your last couple threads comments into consideration - you're a shill for UBI, aren't you? A/S/L?

I should just lock this (smells of payola), but I'll move it to the correct forum anyhow.  Do better next time, k?

I was thinking the exact same things. In that order.

SB sucked ass, and this is coming from someone who prefers PvP as his playstyle.  Your shitty game had some many things wrong with it, at the core, that no number of expansions can ever fix it and make it a good PvP experience.

I really had fun in sb back in the day but after me and a friend went 2 months without being able to LOG INTO the game due to various technical problems we both gave up. I can't see going back to it they missed their chance with technical failures back in the day.

The problem in sb is you need to be part of a good guild to really do the interesting stuff and survive. Most of my guild went poof due to technical problems and without that group logging back on would be pointless.

Ouch!

What was that song -- Can You Feel the Love Tonight?

THough I never played it, sounds like SB burned through its player-goodwill-capital long ago...

Burned it, beat it, stabbed it in the eye, spat and pissed upon it, while tap-dancing to the tune of "SUCKER!"

From another thread regarding Shadowbane:

SB.exe

If the Fragdolls fellated me one at a time, I would agree to at least entertain the thought of playing it again.  Even then Ubisoft would have to send me a bucket of cash.

That is still my official position.

Bullshit. You cant have that many people in one city. sb.exe

Anyway. I dont think that many people still play Shadowbane.

And, nicely said Rasix.

I actually resubscribed. What a mistake. It is STILL a huge piece of shit. If you value your time, do not bother with this thing. I do not think it will ever be fixed.

From what I've gathered, calling Shadowbane a huge piece of shit would only be a compliment.  I second the shill remark.

Shadowbane is excellent game in concept, it is implementation of that concept that falls short.  SB concept is not for everyone, some people just don't like intense cutthroat competition it brings. I personally loved SB’s concept, it is implementation that got me frustrated. I wish somebody put an effort into fixing SB, it isn't easy but can be done.

SB needs:
1) Updated client - as of right now client is inadequate and does not take full advantage of hardware graphics acceleration. Client should be able to support 50 on 50 battles with top-of-the line machine. That and SB should work with ATI cards.
2) Update world - all shadowbane land is empty, there are very few points of interest and no impassible terrain. At least add mountains, NPC villages and roads.
3) Improve PvE – PvE in Shadowbane can be considered cruel and unusual punishment. It is beyond unimaginative and boring. All monsters appear in a static spawns, all monsters have tons of hit points so it takes a group or AOE to kill them at acceptable rate and all monsters melee you, even mage-types. PvE should be solo-friendly – monsters should have a lot less hit points. There should be ranged casters, healers, sneaking and roaming monsters. Loot also should be interesting – as of right now other than gold very few useful things drop.
4) Add player crafting – this will help to fill world with POI and give players alternative to PvP.

Eternity is a very long time, especially towards the end.

I hit the cancel button last night, too bad it was such a good idea with substandard results.

I could never get the game to let me remap my movement keys or for that matter, didn't have a lot of customization for the player.

Sheesh, there's more anti-capitalism fear on this thread to compose one of my caffine induced political posts.

Anywho, Shadowbane.  Haven't played it for awhile, but I'd be surprised if the game can actually support several hundred players having a "war".   The server architexture never seemed to be quite up to the task - the "magic box" idea went down in flames before Shadowbane was even released.

However, if you want to resubscribe to either a) watch the servers crash or b) be amazed how few people are drawn to this event... be my guest.
