Does anyone have any idea why I cannot buy this from any store (in the UK), and Amazon has had no copies in stock for over 9 months now?
I'm at a loss...

Looks to be out of print in your region (I guess that would be 2). Plenty of Region 1s out there in case you have a region free dvd player. Or you could just EBay it.

Could have sworn that I saw this the other day. I can have a look for you next week when I'm back from holiday.

Thanks, if you see it anywhere that would be nice.
I don't know why they would take this movie out of print *sigh*.

I've been trying to find "The Crow" recently as well, and all I can find are the shitty "sequels"

They take almost all movies out of print at some point or another, even the wildly popular ones. It doesn't make a lot of sense to keep pressing DVDs for the 8-10 copies a month that would sell if it were always out there. So print up a bunch, sell them to retailers who'll stock as they see fit. If there's enough of a demand later, print up a new batch. You just happen to be looking at a 'down' time.
The same thing happened to me with "Interview With a Vampire" back in the VHS days. If you ask one of the sales clerks, they can check if there's any at other stores or - possibly - know if there's another release date upcoming. I know Suncoast had a list of when movies were releasing again that stretched out at least 6-7 months, because that's how I got a copy on reserve back then. I imagine Best Buy, etc all have similar lists.

My most coveted and impossible to find DVD: Suburbia by Richard Linklater. Unexcusably never released.
Derail I know, but it still hurts.

Not nearly as bad as The State Complete Box being made, boxed, and sitting in a warehouse with no release date.

Great movie, best bet if they did stop print is check ebay (of course) but also, lots of those pre-owned bins at stores have had goodies like this at dirt cheap prices. Good luck on your search =/ Not nearly as bad as The State Complete Box being made, boxed, and sitting in a warehouse with no release date.
This makes me sad every time I'm reminded That show was golden. Another release date rumor has popped up (Spring 2009) along with news of an upcoming Comedy Central special with The State, only this time it is from Kevin Allison. Hopefully this one comes through. Levon: Barry baby, Barry baby do you see what I got here Barry: What do you got there? Levon: This here is a box of pudding Barry: And what does it say? Levon: It says cook....then chill. And that's what I do every night, I cook and then I chill

This is my favorite god damned movie of all time. My one true moment of nerd glory was owning a bootleg of the uncut version, years before it came out in the US. I let one of my work buddies of the era borrow/copy it in exchange for a bootleg of Transformers: The Movie, which was out of print at the time. Ah, memories.
I don't really have much to add, besides telling K9 that if he orders it from somewhere and gets stuck with a copy of the original edited version that's been gathering dust somewhere for 8 or 9 years, he should probably consider killing people. I just really fucking want to talk about this movie. It's all the way up to #35 on the IMDB Top 250, which is about 30 places higher than it was a few years ago.

the original edited version ?? EDIT: Okay, looked it up myself. I am stunned and shocked that I never knew about the changes to the original version which means I may well not have watched this in over 10 years and may well have never watched the version I have on DVD (which is possible - I've got several still in their wrappers which I've had for years). Hell, I'm going to have to check myself that I actually do own it. My most coveted and impossible to find DVD: Suburbia by Richard Linklater. Unexcusably never released.
For years, the only way to get hold of a copy of Christopher Nolan's "Following" was to get a region 1 version. Despite being made by a brit, filmed in London and being one of the best low budget, independent films to be made in the UK in recent years, it didn't get a UK DVD release until sometime around the release of Batman Begins. I'll try to speak to my friend at Warner Bros to see if she knows why Suburbia didn't get a release.

Yeah, if you own this movie and it DOESN'T have a scene where Leon explains his early life and how he became a hitman (among other additions) your version sucks and you need to get the real one.

Hmmm... I apologize in advance if I don't take your word on that. I always liked the fact that Leon's background was never revealed but only alluded to by Danny Aiello's character. Having seens where he explains it all sounds like it could be unnecessary exposition. But until I get to see it, I can't make a judgement.
