For something clean cut poppy and a little new new wave,  there's The bird and the bee. You might want to check out  The Ting Tings as well.

For something  with a reggae feel, Michael Franti and Spearhead is good.

currently, i've been delving into the "nordic" folk black metal shit, looking for some be-all-end-all representative of that sound... haven't found one. interesting genre though (sometimes a bit tacky... and in many cases, totally fucking insincere  undecided).

If you're interested in sincerity in the genre, I'd go with Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi.  Forgive the quality.  I would not call their new stuff particularly 'sincere'.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trml8JngU6g

I'm also interested in the groups that are actually more folk than metal... can't think of one atm though. Almost qualifies as world music though.

Most of my music isn't in English, I know the words and don't know what they mean.

Personally, I think the world would be better off if people broadened their horizons a bit.

Korpiklaani's earlier stuff might meet that.  they have become more metal with recent albums.

So I'm changing the title of this thread so that it can just become a place for us to ask for and make music recommendations.

If you haven't heard of The Streets, you should give it a listen. It's an english dude named Mike Skinner and it's got a good feel to it. The song I linked is my favorite from his latest album, Everything is Borrowed.

Also, Lost from Chloe day is pretty good. Her stuff is kind of electronic/industrial/goth, and I think I got her from someone on these forums a year or two ago.

My friend grew up with these dudes in California, and they're starting to catch on out there. I'm not a big fan of Spanish music, but I really like these guys. This is probably their most popular song.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd runs it a close second.

Animals is my favorite Floyd album. Les Claypool did a pretty amazing cover of the entire album live. It was nice having a great bass player on those tracks.
