REUNION ISLAND - NOVEMBER 14, 2004 -- Over 30 new spells, along with new races, sound effects, are included in the new beta test for Dark and Light, an MMORPG scheduled for commercial release in April 2005 by developer NP Cube and publisher Farlan Entertainment. The new array of spells, with their impressive visual effects, can now be used during fights assuming, of course, players have invested a few skill points. New spells for Fighting include Snake Attack spells (Glue, Mamba Attack, and Python Power), and Weapons Expertise spells (for Swords, Crossbows, and Critical Hilts Expertise, among others). The Healing axis also includes new spells for Healing Fundamentals Skills (such as Self Healing, Quick Healing, and Instant Healing), God Gifts Skills (God Armor Shield Expansion and God Abilities Expansion, and others), and for Guardians Invocation Skills (spells for Wolves, Bears, and Pets Healing). New spells for "anytime" use are also included for Energy Power, Molecules Control, and Spirits Appeal Skills. "We created these new spells with two goals in mind: to have maximum power and to be the most fun and outrageous," says Frederic Caille, CEO of Farlan Entertainment. "We expect our beta testers will enjoy these new spells and how they 'look' on the screen when they are activated." Beta testers may continue playing human characters, but now can play new Level 5 Elf characters (Dark, Wooden, High, and Half) with 10 skill points to allocate on three axes: Fighter, Healer, and Caster. In addition, the new Dark and Light beta includes new sounds and music, as well as a new focal lens change to improve immersion. The current closed beta is planned to run through very early 2005. For more beta information, players can visit www.darkandlight.com. This game still looks good to me. I have no idea what's going on, I stopped checking their website ages ago because news is so scarce. This is the first in ages.

Where is it being made? (Just curious, as the English on the site is a bit creative.)

I can't believe it's still being made. I emailed their press guy months and months and months ago. Never heard back. Assumed it was DOA. Hmmm, maybe I'll annoy them again.

I've actually heard decent things out of the beta months ago.

I signed up for a chance at beta sometime during the last Ice Age, and never heard ANYTHING (confirmation, newsletters, spam, etc) from them. Glad to see they are still chugging along.

The more competition, the better. Thankfully this one doesn't appear to be much of a clone.

It sounds like a nice place to live. If taxes aren't too bad, I could live there. Let's go. Almost anything is better than New Jersey.
