In AoC its simple to tell which guys play female characters. Only they will undress their characters in a diseased slaughterhouse while waiting for boss to respawn.

Nudes. Again.
Of course, you did attempt to flirt with them...
Why do people keep posting topless girls. The game being M and the official forums allowing it doesn't mean we will. Stop that. Fuck.
It's the only reason I'm reading this thread! Bring on teh bewbs!

Actually, I'm trying to figure out why everyone thinks the graphics are so great, they look ok but not outstanding) You can argue style and I'll agree, but EQ2's engine has had teh shiney for years. And the armor isn't all that hot looking, so it's not even that big a knock against EQ2's style imo.

Some times you just like to go against the flow don't you? For one, eq2 doesn't use near the texture resolution AOC does.

Having started to play EQ2 again on a box that can actually handle it, I'd have to say yes, AOC is a much prettier, more technically impressive graphics engine. It runs like ass in comparison but it has a reason to.

Conan is a much better looking game, just from a technical standpoint. Of course you can argue style forever, but I think Conan also pulls off its realistic style better too.

The number of good SSs in this thread is a little small for such "great" graphics. I'm assuming it must be better animated, or something.

It's just like any game where in-motion looks better and has its moments. Cityscapes in Conan are particularly beautiful. Outside of that? It's ok. The detail that goes into some things is just amazing.

WTF you been playing to think these screenies are bad anyways? Definetely not any MMOs.

AoC brings good gameplay with good graphics. True story.

AoC reminds me of Vanguard a lot graphics-wise, though it does have visible edge over it. Can't quite put finger on it, but i think it's something to do with the colour palette most of all and how some of these larger cities are put together.

It probably is the colour palette.  We've become too used to the bright and shiny of WoW or something.  I find Vanguard much duller and mundane with their colours than AoC, though.  AoC uses a more realistic palette than WoW, but I don't find it a bit dull or mundane.  I especially like the attention they paid to metals and metallic colours.

AoC is simply the best-looking realistic MMO, imo.

I love WoW graphics but it's cartoony, not realistic, and it is looking a bit dated.  I adore the Disney-esque graphics (Nagrand, in particular).

Schild, at level 3, very badly burnt. Just as he's about to go into Tortage. This is what happens when you get lit on fire too many times. And it's disgusting.

Sword and shield made out of cardboard? Awesome look though. Though I think it would be on the PJs side more than the superhero.

I guess the thing in the SSs that makes me go ? is that they are often fantastic in bits but a bit off in others, so they look inconsistent and such. The ones without the inconsistent bits are very good though.

Yeah I totally know what you mean, which is one of the reasons it looks so much better in motion. When you look at a still screenshot your eyes find the flaws but when it's moving you just don't see the glitches and problems.

The way that armour & clothing is modeled rather than just painted on textures means that you get clipping. The animations sometimes have small problems. The textures sometimes aren't applied correctly. But when you're playing it you notice the light reflecting off of the armour, the way his pigtails bounce along when he runs, the way the chain mail coif hanging down from a helmet swings when the character dances, the way the landscapes unfold into epic vistas before you.

If you're looking for flaws then you'll find them, but that's true of any game surely? Conversely if I'm enjoying it and the visual design is good (and coherent) then personally I forgive the inconsistencies :)

I like how the beaded Stygian hair meshes have bounce throughout.  In a screen shot it looks okay, but in motion it adds a lot more than many of the other style which only have points of movement near their ends.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I like 'em both. And Conan, while brutally beautiful, lacks a bit of flair, IMO.
