The idiotic thing about the comic is that the guy is "going all the way" on something that ISN'T "Game of Thrones". He's going "all the way" on a conventional heroic fantasy. "Game of Thrones" itself utterly mocks the idea of "going all the way" on fighting a dragon by yourself--everyone who has self-images like that in the series is a complete dimwit and tool who gets his ass (or other body parts) served to him steaming.

Are we supposed to be rooting for the insane guy in that comic? cause that was pants on head retarded.

Perhaps the comic was using the example of dragon-hero-dude for dramatic effect.

And for many people, (drunk poets especially) living a life chasing a dream to it's extreme conclusion is preferred to muddling through life until death by old age.

I just took it as a satirical argument to absurdity of the idea (often stated) that you should do everything wholeheartedly.

Works better if that's the way you look at it, because it's stupid.
